Since they've been discontinued, what's a fair price for the Denon AH-D2000 in the current market?  What are some reasonable price ranges for new and for used?

Going headphone hunting on Friday and there's a shop nearby that might have them new for $350 USD.  Thanks.

If you can get them for $350 I'd do it.  I'm kicking myself for selling mine off.  If you can believe it I paid $212 for a new set when I bought them.  Now used ones are hitting near $500.  Just crazy!!  They are good but not $500 good.  At $350 I think that's a fair deal.  Sometimes I've seen them slightly used in the for sale forum, under $300.

Thank you Magicman74, sharkboyz19.  I see historically they got down to around $200 new back in 2010.   I want to make sure it's a fair price for the actual sound.   I'm debating which headphones to buy next.  Right now, I'm looking to step up from my Beyerdynamic DT 770 32ohm, Audio Technica ATH-M50, Sony MDR-V6, and Sennheiser HD 202 II.  I only have a Fiio e6 amp which has been fine for what I have.

I've been debating between the Sennheiser HD 650 and the HiFiMan HE400.  I was leaning toward the HE400 since they don't require as much power to drive. I was thinking of coupling it with a Fiio E9K.  Then I just happened to come across the Denon AH-D2000 for $350.  I know they are highly regarded (and easy to drive).  I was going to go to the shop anyway to test out the headphones so if they have them in stock I may be temped to pick them up instead.  I might be able to talk them down in price a little. So I just wanted to see if it was good opportunity to get them since they're discontinued.  I suppose I can always sell them later and go for the HD 650 or HE400 in the future after enjoying them for a bit.

Well, went to the local shop today and got to try a bunch of headphones.  Spent a couple hours listening to the HD598, HD600, HD650, HD800, AKG 701, Shure SRH1440, and the Denon AH-D2000.

After writing my initial post, I ended up snagging the HD600 new from Amazon or $300. Couldn't resist the price.  After listening to it for a while today, I'm super happy with the purchase.  I'm a big jazz fan and they sounded amazing with jazz.  I couldn't decide which I liked more between them and the hd650.  The 650 has some more bass which I really like.

Speaking of that, I loved the sound signature of the Denons.  They only had the display AH-D2000 and they wouldn't sell it to me!  So my buddy found a pair online that I'm gonna meet up with the guy and try to get.  He's asking $200 for them.  Hopefully, I can add that to the collection this week.

My favorites though were the HD800 to no surprise.  That's still a long ways off for me.

From what I've read it seems like the HiFiMan HE-400 fits my taste.  I'm gonna flip my ATH-M50 in Seoul as I don't use them any more they have nice resale here in Korea and sell my yet to be purchased Denon's later in the year perhaps in the States.  Headphones are generally way more expensive here in Korea but there are some nice opportunities to buy in each country and sell in the other.
