Girlfriends - Page 2

I lie to The GF and reduce the price of all my audio gear by at least 1/2, if not more. It's the only way I could own any of it without her murdering me. ^^ Unfortunately, she doesn't have any expensive hobbies, so I can't use the old trick of saying 'Well, how much did you spend on X that you don't need? That's totally comparable to what I do!' Luckily for me, she doesn't have much of an eye for electronics, so it can be a long time before she actually notices a new piece of gear--and when she does, I can just say, 'Oh, that old thing? I've had that for forever.'

I will say that I have slightly gotten her to understand this hobby by gifting her some decent listening gear over the years, all of which she really appreciates and uses frequently. My latest present to her were a pair of Audioengine A5+ speakers, which she loves to death. And when I do get new gear, she is usually interested in listening to it, and even has a couple 'test' tracks of her own that she likes to run through them. So, it's perhaps not quite an ideal situation, but it could certainly be worse! :-D

Head-Fi is easy, try telling your wife you bought a Ferrari. At least mine doesn't bat an eye over audio gear anymore. biggrin.gif

Yeah a lot of girls I know don't understand that there is a such thing as headphones better than beats. Lol. But my gf says she thinks beats are stupid; and she hasn't even tried other headphones than the stock ibuds, which apparently she doesn't use much either.

I'm not ready for commitment either, and I'm 27! I just sorta got lured into it and then trapped. :-P

Lured in and trapped... sounds excellent ;)

Well, I'm not quite manacled to the bed or anything, if that's what you're implying. But yes, it could be worse! ^^

Love life? I only have tales of strife and woe... but I could probably make everybody else feel better about theirs. Does that count for anything?

Title should so be changed to "Girlfriends, or tales of strife and woe" ;)

Found the best girlfriend ever some years back. Really supportive, never nags, is open to stories about headphones from the '80s, and would like me to measure her cans.

There's hope for engineers - I married the most wonderful woman in the world 10 years ago this May.  'Course I was 44...

There's probably a thread like this one from, like, 2002 - back in the beginning of head-fi.
And i bet if you dug it up it would read a lot like this one. Lol
Head-fi is an evolving place, sure. but wives and girlfriends? Well, some things never change. tongue.gif

Btw, married 9.5 years to a wife that is " meh" about music, but understands me being quite a bit more than "meh" about it. wink.gif
