INEARCUSTOM - Cheapest re-shell ever? - Page 5

I guess business is booming for Inearcustom, as it has been 25 days since Rob received my ear impressions, and no sign of my reshelled TF10's yet. Hopefully I'll get a tracking number so I'll know when they ship.

Still, I have faith that this is going to be worth the wait... Rob seems like a genuinely nice and talented guy. You can't beat the value, and sometimes an extended delivery time is the price you pay for such a good deal.

I contacted Rob today (Mar. 4) and he was apologetic for the delay. Evidently they are getting lots of orders at In Ear Custom, and they are swamped. He said they had just finished "capping" my CIEMs are they were moving to the final sanding/polishing stage. Shipment was to be today, or tomorrow.

My fingers are crossed!

Glad to hear it.  Please let us know when they arrive.  I'm still waiting for the impression kit.

I think i have to do the impression again.

I'm getting poor isolation and sounding.

Is it because you think there were problems with the original impressions or is because they molds were destroyed in the manufacturing process.  FYI--I'm asking because I'm a little worried about doing the impressions myself and am considering just going to an audiologist.

Due to some reason, they receive my impression after a month.

So i think the impressions have some kind of shrinkage.

The impressions if made from the silicon base and catalyst, will not shrink. It has good memory to retain shape and unless its shipped in a plastic bag where it can be subject to excessive external pressure, I think its your audiologist who has done the mistake.

Even though my re-shelled IEMs were stolen, I was able to retrieve the ear impressions. My right ear impressions were fine and provided good fit and seal, but the left one was kinda bad especially on the fossa.

This is because my audiologist who overcharged the **** out of me, grew impatient when she took the impressions of the left ear and pulled out a little too quickly even before the impressions of the fossa were set onto the silicon mix.

Also, I wanted to let all of you know of the more than excellent customer service that IN EAR CUSTOM offers!

He has bought a replacement set for me - Rockit Sounds R-50 and its on the way to me.. At first he offered to purchase and reshell the monitors but I insisted that he should not suffer any loss from this deal.

Even though Im still taken aback with the theft of my monitors, I am very happy that he has provided me such alternatives..

Decided to take the plunge, I had the impressions done by an audiologist and sent them off today together with my TF10s. RC

I posted earlier in this thread after having my SE535's done by rob over Christmas.
Unfortunately after using them a few times I find they weren't sealing properly.

I could hear the potential they had when holding them on the ear but they would just not seal properly.

I'm pretty sure this was due to doing the impressions myself.

After speaking with Rob he offered to send me another impression kit and redo them for me!

Living in Australia I thought it was a very generous offer.

To ensure the same issue didn't occur I had a local audiologist do the impressions for $30 which turned out perfect!

I sent them off a few weeks ago and they should arrive back to me in a few weeks.

I will post the result once I get them but I'm so glad to hear that everyone else seems to have experienced the same level of customer satisfaction the I have!

Rob truly is a genuinely nice guy and takes pride in his work and will do what it takes to ensure you get a quality product.

Nothing but praise from me smily_headphones1.gif

PS I work for Yamaha Music here in Australia and have been in the industry for many years. Very few people like rob left around.

There are some updates that Rob has shared in facebook about new colors, cost increases and the like -

"Lesson learned. Last week I spent around 40 minutes writing a huge update for all of you out there and I had a glitch in facebook and lost the post! So this time I am writing in out on notepad first.

Delivery Times! Many of you out there are waiting on delivery. The story is the same, we are working as hard and as fast as we can to get them done for you.

I say we because In Ear Custom is now Dan and myself. Dan recently became my partner and he is sharing the workload with me. This is important for my success because honestly there was no way I could afford to hire full time guys to do this with what I charge. It can only happen if Dan and I share in the workload.

Dan checks in the new packages, gets the electronics ready for the shells, makes the replicas (I shape every mold), Dan also makes the final shells, and installs the components and caps the shells.

I sand and polish the final shells, shape every mold, and cut the shells, and drill them out and notch them for the sockets. I also do all of the online work which includes all the auctions, the website, all emails, etc.

We have someone who helps us part time with our shipping. She handles putting together and shipping out all the kits, and once Dan or I final packages a custom IEM, she will print the label and documentation to go with it.

We finally got some really nice wire in. It's thin 32awg BUT it has a clear jacket and comes single conductor so we have to twist it. We do have the connectors to make Shure Custom Cables but we have not worked out the final trim piece for the connector to the IEM and do not have any pictures yet. I haven't completed one yet only made the cable itself and it looks really nice.

MANAGEMENT system! I finally have a good business management system. I installed Vtiger on one of my online servers and it is working amazing. I was able to upload all of the customer information for everyone. A big challenge has been keeping up with communications because I did not have a central place for all of the information. For instance, whenever we make a shell, we determine the color by ... wait for it .. researching email which can take forever on eBay. Another challenge has been most of the customers from eBay do not put their eBay info on the envelope so when they are in the shop they go by first and last name because this is how they come in. Now with the new system I have all of your information in a central location and can access it no problem.

NEW INQUIRIES. Another challenge was remembering what I offer to whom. Most of you have different IEM's and it requires some special quote on my end, and you usually decide to purchase after about 2 or 3 emails which by that time I have forgotten my original quote. Vtiger allows me to see instantly what I offered you etc, without cumbersome email searches. It will help us to be more productive and get the jobs done faster and right. It will also help me answer questions concerning individual purchases faster.

IMPRESSION KITS We have recently upgraded our impression kits to contain everything needed for a perfectly professional ear impression including bite block, material, qtips, syringe, and ear dams. We will be coming out with a instructional video very soon.

Some recent changes included changing the tube size from 1.4 to 2.08 mm ID, adding the SHURE cable and sockets to any custom IEM, glitters, and more colors.

This week of Monday 3/11/13 I am bringing back my personal web designer Manny to work with us again. I trained Manny to help me last year but at the end of the year I had to make some sharp cutbacks because we had a baby boy and my wife was unable to work. Things are leveling out now and I am ready to bring him back on board. The website will be going through some major changes over the next couple of weeks which will include the ability to choose your color, glitter, and cable accessories. There is a ton of work to be done and Manny will be helping with that.

SHIPPING PRICE increases for international customers. I haven't decided exactly what I'm going to do yet. The international shipments have put a significant damper on profitability. To ship to most places flat rate priority is around 23 dollars. For whatever reason there is no way to ship first class international from anywhere else but the eBay site. As such if you purchase through the website my only choice is to send you two priority international shipments. These two shipments cost 46 dollars. I will be updating prices for the shipping to international countries to help offset that loss a little better.

SPECIALTY rates. As of now the SE535 is the only special rate category. The reason is two fold.

1. The 535 requires a special filter that can only be purchased directly from China.
2. The 535 requires more installation time due to the large vent. (We wrap it so it doesn't get damaged)

Thank you to all of the patient customers out there. We all have a great need, a desire, and that is to have custom IEM's which lets face it a new pair of custom IEM's are too expensive. So we purchased some Shures, Westones, Ultimate Ears TF10, and settled. But now I am offering a solution. Thank you so much for your support! "

Interesting colors. I'm about to full my trigger but I'll wait till I see the glitters. I'm thinking of red/red granite for the right ear and blue/blue crystal for the left ear smily_headphones1.gif or should I do the opposite red/blue crystals and blue/ red granite. This hobby is getting too complicated:))) green looks cool too.
