I sent in my TF10 and requested the stock sockets. I also own Shure SE535LTD and hate the swivel cables (same as UE900). Very annoying IMO

Juts heard from Rob, my re-shell should be done sometime next week.  I'm hopping to have them in hand before my bands next gig (next Thursday).  It probably won't arrive in time, but I can hope.  In any event, I will post pictures and reviews when they arrive.

great! cant wait to read your impressions.

my acrylic moulds(which was one of the few things left by the thief) that In Ear Custom made was a great fit to my ears.

I am also presently waiting for my R-50s reshelled. Mine definitely will take 2 weeks or more.

quoting what Rob posted on his Facebook Page

"SPECIALTY rates. As of now the SE535 is the only special rate category. The reason is two fold.

1. The 535 requires a special filter that can only be purchased directly from China
2. The 535 requires more installation time due to the large vent. (We wrap it so it doesn't get damaged)"

I think the filter is changed as well. I would still suggest you to confirm by mailing him at rob@inearcustom.com

regards,

I actually pondered this question myself, I went with the UE900 port for a couple reasons: It's a known fact that the pins might break off and then your'e screwed. Plus, UE is not supporting the old pins anymore, it's becoming harder and harder to find applicable cords for them. The UE900 cords are plentiful because, as you said, shure also uses them. I don't have to import my cords.

Although i agree with alot of your points, the shure/ue900 connectors have their own problems as well (see UE900 appreciation thread and sound cutting out). Personally, i find the old pin cables easier to find. Locally, i can walk into a store to buy a Fiio cable, while the only Shure cable i can find is the stock one (which i hate). Fiio also announced a new set of ue900 and triple fi 10 cables which looks very interesting

On a side note (and more related to this thread lol) my tracking number says my molds/TF10 were delivered to Rob Saturday, but he's stopped responding to my emails. I know hes had computer trouble lately, has anyone heard from him recently?

Hm, I just saw the RC-UE2 on Fiio's website, any clue on if it has memory wire? That was the biggest thing I had against it.

Funny you should say this, since I actually met him today to make sure my shells fit before he went ahead to put the drivers in them (left ear was perfect, right ear just needed to be slightly larger so he's putting on another layer of acrylic).  We didn't talk much but he said he's been completely swamped lately, so I wouldn't be surprised if he just missed your email.  He's on the website pretty frequently (a little chat window will pop up in the lower right if he's on) and I've found that's the best way to get a fast reply from him.

Wow, thats kinda cool that you got to visit his lab and see the work that goes on in there. I've tried a few times trying to chat with him, but he hasnt been online all week except for today, but his status was set to away. I sent him another email though hopefully i hear back. By the way, what is the wait times right now from when he receives your impressions to completion and ready to ship? Was just curious as to whether I'd get these in time for my bday :P

Oh no, I didn't go to his area.  I live in Orlando, about an hour and a half from him, and he's here a few times a week so we just met up.  He said it'd be a couple weeks from me giving him the earphones to me getting them back, and it took a week to make the impressions themselves.

Dan is answering the e-mails now from Rob's last post in Facebook. "Quick Note: Wanted to give a fast update. It's 6am Wednesday. Weve been slammed catching up on orders. I am officially working more than ever before now that I have 2 full timers plus me. We have doubled our output since Jason joined us. Dan is answering emails now. It seems that I am more productive when I am not going back and forth as we currently get about 20 emails per day. Thank you all for your support we will have the chat up this afternoon around 3ish or so. We are still backlogged but we are getting them done much faster now. Thanks again, Rob."
