But which color? They are both so d@mn pretty.

What I really want is the silver in the day and black at night.

Both! I prefer the silver, I don't like the smoked glass.

Right on ... My choice would be black with the clear glass - Beautiful!  beerchug.gif

however general consensus between those who have actually tried a premium usb cable is that they do improve the sound quality and it appears to be from people who have no affiliation with usb cable producers.

here's a handy link. it appears that the Wireworld starlight is one of the most popular choices. Flat cable and looks very slick. There's a cheaper Ultraviolet variety, but people who have used both seem to say that the starlight is a significant upgrade.

I've been bugging Guillaume of A2A to stock the 0.5m model for the last day or two and when he finally does, I've decided to go for the 1m. He must be livid.

As for the Power cable, I'm also trying to get him to stock the entry-level wireworld stratus and aurora. They seem like great value for the price and it can't hurt to try at such a low asking price.

+1 on the red Wireworld Starlight, beat my Ultraviolet, Monoprice, Belkin, generic , and King Rex although the Rex was no slouch.

Is the $999 after the pre-release pricing confirmed?  On paper this amp looks almost perfect for what I want, but I am really hesitant to buy anything without a decent number of reviews.

If only it had switchable output that didn't require a reacharound, it would be absolutely perfect for a computer 2.0 solution.

Yes. $999 price is confirmed.  I believe today is the last day to get the pre-order price if this article is to be believed:

This amp is much smaller than it looks from the pictures.  It shouldn't be too hard to get at the output switch I imagine.

I am assuming, of course, that you wouldn't be hiding away something this beautiful.

yep, a 5 inch cube of high clarity glass and seamless matte steel. So little, SO cool!

Does anyone know if the tubes are powered down when using only the DAC stage?

I'd just assume it has a tube DAC. Considering the output stage for the headphones is tubes.

This seems to suggest otherwise, I am hesitant to interpret so much from a single picture.

Bah, if today is the last day for the $799 price, I'm seriously tempted.

Same, have one sitting in my cart, mulling it over.  I've been tempted for a long time to upgrade my computer setup, if the tubes could be saved when it's being used just as a DAC feeding a set of bookshelves, I would be sold.

The checkout price has increased to $999. New estimated shipping date of mid March 2013 as well.

I wonder when the first few will ship out. Dying of anticipation ;_;
