Hello!
Im looking for a decent cheapish amp for now..

Im not really good at amps and was wondering what would pair well with my q701's at a price of 150 or less.

(or should i just save up for a xonar STX/xonar phobeous)

My listening is 90% gaming 10% music.

was looking at a few of these.

Something from the Fiio range could do the trick, but when I heard the Q701's, they were to my ears, a little dull, BUT, others have a completely different experience. When I heard them, I did hear them via a budget amp, People that have had a great experience appear to have heard them via quality amplification.. Mind you, you are mostly gaming. So gamers might require certain qualities I'm not aware of.

You might be able to get away with a Xonar DG (PCI) or DGX (PCI-E) sound card ($25-$40) for now.

A used Xonar DX (PCI-E) or D1 sound card, $67

with a Fiio E9 external amp, $88

The Essence STX  & Xonar DX use the same audio processor, the C-Media CMI8788.

The Essence STX & Fiio E9 use the same amplifier chip. the 6120A2, so are about equal amp. wise.

For adding an amplifier to the Xonar DX/Q701, ask on this thread.
