I am lurking on here for quite a while now, learned a lot just by reading this forum but never really gotten into some serious headphones before, until now.
I have been reading dozen of reviews on here and elsewhere on the net, very informative and such. But yet, still i am still wondering to pick either the Sennheiser 518 or 558.
What i understood are the two headphones very alike, the difference is that the 518 have a smaller soundstage but more powerful bass. The 558 visa versa, a bigger soundstage but not as much bass. Also, the pads of the 558 seem to be superior to the 518''s. I am wondering if i should go and grab the 518 for the bass, because having some nice bass in movies is a nice plus, but so is soundstage. Same counts for the music genres i am listening to...
What is the difference in bass between the two, i am not a basshead but again, some bass is appreciated.
What would you do if you were in my situation? Is the difference in base between the two that big? Or should i go with the better soundstage because the bass on both headphones are very similar?
Note that i will be using this on my pc mostly, on a Asus Xonar DGX soundcard.
The 518 or the 558? I am about to pull the trigger on one of them.
