Choice Between JVC FX1X and FX3X

I am deciding whether I should get the FX1X and FX3X by JVC. The FX3X apparently features a carbon diaphragm versus the paper diaphragm on the FX1X, and an alunium housing. I am just curious about the difference between these two earphones, and if it is really worth the extra 18$ for the FX3X. The FX1X is on sale in Canada for 19$, and the FX3X at 35$ at future shop. Thank you for your consideration.

Newbie here, mostly a lurker.  I own a few pairs of the FX1X because I was happy with the sound of the first pair I bought, and I didn't want them to discontinue the series without me having a few spare pairs.  I had read somewhere that the FX3X had better sound, so I ordered a pair from Amazon and tried them out today.  The sound isn't nearly as good and seems muffled.  I don't know how to describe it exactly as I'm not an audiophile, but the FX1X definitely sounds better and clearer to me.

 

I'll give them a day or 2 of burn-in (even though I wonder if burn-in is real... lol) and will try them again in a few days.  But for now, meh.  Wish I'd saved my money.
