Hello, I am in the process of selecting my first set of real headphones and would appreciate your opinion.
My use is two fold. First use is monitoring while I record professional screencasts. Thus accuracy would be helpful. Second use is music - I listen mostly to rock, pop and classical. The headphones will be used in my home office.
I suspect closed headphones are more appropriate for monitoring. Also, when alone in the office I tend to listen to my very good speaker/sub setup.
I will sometimes connect the headphones through my laptop but most of the time will connect to the M-Audio fast track c 400, which to my ears has strong sq.
My preference would be to keep the purchase to around $150, less if there is no appreciable advantage to more expensive options. Based on reading reviews here I am considering
- Audio Tech ATH-M50
- Shure SRH 840
- Brainwave HM5 or other less expensive clone like Jaycar
Did I miss an option that is better? What headphones do you believe is best for my uses?
Thanks in advance.
