Just Recieved My ATH-A500's, WOW!

First of all I would like to say how much I despise head-fi for getting me and my wallet into this. Anyway, I recieved my A500's today and all I can is wow. I never realized how much I was missing from my music and these things are so incredibly comfortable. I first listened to them out of the box and was kind of dissapointed but after reading a lot on these forums about burn in, I hooked them up to my computer for about 3 hours and then came back to them, wow what a difference. These sound absolutely amazing. If these 99 dollar phones sound this great, I can't wait to hear what the CD3000 or the HD650's sound like. I'd also like to thank everyone here at Head-fi you have all been very helpful in helping me make this decision. And I couldn't be happier.

Happy listening! Takes me back to when I first got my HD590, and spent the remainder of the day listening instead of going to class

Just wait till they get a 100 hours of burn in. They will sound even better. I just got a pair of hd595's and out of the box the a500's still sound better, but I am sure that will change signicantly once they get a 100 hours of burn in time. Congrats on the new purchase I know you'll enjoy them.

Nice, I'm glad you like them, yeah...beware of the "better" 'phones. I do like the A500s better than HD580s though....

...and I got my A500s from AudioCubes for 89 bucks (sale)...that's why I picked them, since nobody had any

I think I have a clone! I got my A500s about 3-4 weeks ago & had the same impressions (search for my post to see) and here I am, barely a month later, and I just bought a pair of CD3000s from a fellow Head-Fi'er...beware, there's no stopping the itch!

Seriously though, the A500s rule...for $99 they're an amazing peice of equipment, CONGRATS & ENJOY!

EDIT: Burn them in for 36 hours like I did (I know...patience is hard) & you'll hear an even larger improvement probably.

haha. I started out with the ATH A55s

Within 3 months I had w100s. oh yeah, it gets a lot better.

eek, i dont know if the pocketbook (or the parents for that matter) would be keen with me getting some more phones quickly, i hope this itch goes away .
