The NEW ATH-CKS1000.. - Page 24

If I was riding a motorcycle would I be able to hear the wind? Or  if I was in a train station would I be able to hear all the noise? While listening to music? thanks. I am deciding between these andd Sony's XBA 40's

Hmm.. You know I don't know if these will be good for that. These stick out like crazy..These sound great of course but on a motorcycle. Can't say.

As dsnuts mentioned, they sound awesome, but they do stick out. Consider something like the Vsonic vsd1's for reduced wind resistance (and yet a very nice SQ!).

thanks. @waynews world, those vsonics look like a real bang for the buck but I am seriously considering the sony XBA 40s because i have found them for relatively cheap and they are reviewed as noise isolating.

I had the xba3's. I think that that xba40's are at least as large - ie they stick out as much - so that is going to have some effect on wind noise. Having said that, if you find the right synergy with the xba40's (which is tricky to do), then by all accounts they will sound amazing.

have read that the XBA-40s are pretty picky about their source, so not all mp3 players/ phones, etc will sound consistently good with them. That is why many use amps and such to get the best synergy to go along with the XBA-40s. Many say the Fiio E11 has great synergy with the 40s, also Dannybai seems to just use them straight outta his iphone5, so the new iphone probably gels pretty well with these 40s.

Other android phones, mp3 players, amps etc might be a different story due to the picky nature of the XBA-40s.

Dsnuts , are these comparable with the $300-$400 tier iems ? Like the westone 4 and um3x or similar sound sig iems .

Ericp think's so and he owned the westone 4 I believe..There was a guy earlier on this thread that mentioned how he liked these over the CKM1000 and the CKW1000 which are 2X the cost of these.

These definitely give you your monies worth in sound. AT sound is excellent on so many levels and these are a perfect example of the "NEW" AT sound.

AT always makes their things 2-3 times worth more than its value ... I've the m50s currently and am maybe looking for a new pair , AD model seems good , any suggestions ?
Edit: Before finding and reading the CKS1000 review that you've wrote , I was considering the ckm1000pro and the UM3X , luckily I read this review and immediately bought it smily_headphones1.gif

CKS-1000 is still the No.1 in this price range in the prestigious VGP2013 Summer that's fresh out of Japan today!

It retained its No.1 seat from half a year ago biggrin.gif
