Welcome aboard! beerchug.gif ... In my view, the CKS1000 overall sound quality is quite a bit better (yes, this JVC fanboy typed that) than the FXZ200 and FXZ100. The 200 has more quantity of bass, but the CKS1000 has more quality of bass and of overall sound. This doesn't mean at all that I have fallen out of love with the FXZs. But dynamically, I have heard nothing that beats the CKS1000 to my ears accept for the ASG-2, which I expect to have the "updated" ASG-2 and AS-2 soon. Happy listening!!

Yes, I'm also curious about how the WS99 and the CKS1000 are to each other. That may seal my fate on the WS99. And I'm digging the CKS1000 so much that I've finally (today) just sold my beloved W4! triportsad.gif

Sorry about your W4's, but wow, I'm even more hyped now!

I was already quite interested in them based on yours and dsnut's opinions, and loving the AD900X's was giving me faith that the ATH sound in general works very well for me. But the final nail in the coffin was how much I have been enjoying the WS99's. Must. Have. More. biggrin.gif

There are only a few guys that have both the WS99 and the CKS1000.. The great thing is both bring a different dynamic to the table when it comes to sound and presentation. Similarities are there but there are definitely differences that make owning both a real treat. The overall full frontal sound of the WS99 has a bother in the CKS1000 that has more of what I consider a sophisticated version of the the Solid Bass sound.

Guys that are patient with the CKS1000 will no doubt enjoy them and they are the type that grows on a person more and more with more use. And sometimes that is better than being wowed by a phone and end up getting shelved later as they loose that wow factor..

The CKS1000 is the opposite of that..Unfortunately some don't have enough patience to actually hear them at their best before giving up on the.. I am glad you got them Wayne and your AT collection grows.

Is the upgrade from CKS99 to CKS1000 as noticeable as the upgrade from CKS77 to CKS99? Also do the CKS99/CKS1000 need as much burn in time as the CKS77? Thanks for any help.

Don't own the CKS99 so I can't tell you how much of a difference there are. I think the CKS1000 is double the cost of a CKS99 for a reason. I know they are using a top quality driver in it. I suspect the CKS1000 is a higher resolution version of the CKS99. Which would put the pricing the way it is. Now going from a CKS77 to a CKS1000 is a big leap in sound quality and I suppose the CKS99 is somewhere in the middle. Not as refined as the CKS1000 but not as burly as the CKS77 either.

How does this compared to sony xb90ex, sennheiser ie80, ultimate ears 6000 and vmoda m100?

Say what you want about graphs as those that do usually lack the knowledge. This is just crap, typical FOTM

Wow, you sound like you have an axe to grind. Where is that graph from?

I just hate FOTMs even though they are inevitable...

It's from an engineer, who doesn't have a site. He uses bk4157, a very high end ear-simulator

Can you provide the graph from another publishable source?

There aren't any. Rin can vouch for it, if you really need assurance. Rin is likely not going to bother to analyze, waste of time perhaps.

People who haven't heard the product always have the most to say about a product. Then they put up third- party graphs and pretend their view is the gospel on a product they have yet to hear. Such is part of the head-fi world. Will the arrogance ever cease?

I hate people who claim intelligence and yet are not smart enough to see that they aren't being objective.

Graphs aside, the evidence is that they are old enough to be past flavor of the month and there are still no real objections against the CKS1000 sound quality. They seem to be good just maybe not everyone's signature but then again they are a niche product and doesn't claim to be general purpose.

The CKM1000 at the same stage was getting panned as a skip this one/overpriced underachiever. It was never flavor of the month and rightly so.

Why didn't Inks hate the RE-400 because it was a flavor of the month as well? He said he hates flavor of the months. Obvious it is not FOTM but more the sound signature. Obviously the ones with his preferred signature are good phones otherwise they are not. Just by looking at the graph of course.

My question is not just when the arrogance will end but when will the prejudice end?

I claim knowledge of graphs enough to have a good idea of what something sounds like based on it. Some have a hard time accepting that but it took experience/knowledge to get there.

Regardless of release date its a FOTM.

RE400 blow these away not because of their signature but because of performance. I think the RE400 is a solid performer but not a leader in its price range at all, a bit dull in the high treble. These are v-shaped, if one wants v-shaped I hope the reader is smart enough to go for the XBA3/30 instead or MH1.
