Picked these up from a fellow headfi'er while back in a trade. Paired with my Minute EL-34 SE (which is also up for sale), these headphones where part of a chain that many at local meets considered among the best heard. So why sell? Sigh - more to experience :-) Chances are good I'll have an HE-6 again down the road (though chances are slim it'll be a leather), but I need the funds to continue the hunt. 

 

These include cable and Hifiman hard box. 

 

$900 + shipping + paypal fees (if any).

They were original HE6 prototypes, which were very limited in production. At release HE6 was changed to the glossy black-blue plastic material for cup / extender cap, instead of the leather seen here.

Yep, drivers are the same. The wood on the end caps is perfect.

Wasn't the prototype slightly less efficient?  In any case it looks good.

I heard this too. My understand was, that a handful of production quality leather headphones were made before Fang decided to switch to the hard shells. In my listening, I haven't been able to perceive a difference between my HE-6 and current production ones (tonality, sound pressure for volume, etc.)

This with my LCD3 pads would of been amazing...!
