Calling all JH16 Pro owners

All,

 

I am curious to know from other JH16 Pro owners whether they find their 16s to be very bright and easily sibilant?

At times mine can be almost painful in their brightness and I have noticed that they are sibilant where the JH13 aren't.

 

I admit that I am a bit of a cable skeptic but am interested to know whether you have found different cables improve matters.

 

What cables are you using?

Have they smoothed out the the brightness\sibilance?

Seems odd.  If anything I found the JH16 on the warm side and the JH13 the one that was bordering overly bright and fatiguing.

I never have found them to be silibant.  I've tried a lot of cables, but I find the Toxic Cable Scorpion to be my favorite.  Big improvements on bass, bass impact, and it sweetens up the mids, better SS depth, it's warm so it helps smooth out the upper mids and treble from sounding so clinical.  I'm running this setup out of an Iphone 4, with Headstage Arrow, Twag LOD with blackgate caps.

Compared to a 13, I thought the 16 warmer but also a bit hotter on top to balance the overall sig.

 

If you feel that way, why not just keep the 13? Is it that you prefer a bass enhanced sig?

 

Silver cables will generally make it hotter but maybe look at a heavier guage pure copper from Toxic. Try it on both while you're at it.wink_face.gif

Thanks guys.

Seems like I am odds to everyone else in the sibilance of mine. Its not all the time, but when I switch between the 2 JH, its noticeable.

I've seen the Toxic Cable Scorpion mentioned before as a good alternative to the stock cable - I'll order that one and let you know what happens.

Mine had a sibilance issue and they were able to address it by changing the position of the high frequency drivers (Pretty sure that's what they did anyway). In any case they were able to fix it. 
JH told me it depends on your ear if it's a problem or not.

I've emailed JH to see whether its too late to send them back for them to look into the Sibilance.
