There is no certicate. You did receive the payment/order/receipt? I assume that will be enough. I just would contact Charles and ask. He is very responsive.

I like what I hear but am slightly unnerved having read in the manual that the warranty is only valid with a guarantee certificate, which he claims never to have received.  Did anyone get one or is Charles just getting ahead of himself?  The manaul also mentions resellers, and there aren't any of them yet...

I never got any paperwork regarding the warranty, but am keeping my paypal invoice as proof of purchase, just in case. I don't recall any information posted by Charles that the warranty was only for the initial purchaser. I do feel that Charles would most likely take care of any warranty issue, as he seems to be a very astute businessman. AFAIK, there have been no warranty issues with any of the Tera-Players sold to date.

Thanks guys, I'm not expecting issues anytime soon but 5 years is a long time.  Seems strange to be so specific in the manual, I will contact Charles smile.gif

Happy listening Joe.

The Tera Player is a wonderful DAP.

I believe you are incorrect. I think someone had an issue with the on off switch with the SD card not working. That's the only issue/case I know of.

I have a reply from Charles - the invoice is indeed the "certificate" so I assume the warranty will only be honoured if you have a copy so don't delete it!

I have not been able to track down mine as it was exchanged through a few hands. Guess I'm out of luck. Probably would rather just order a new one if I run into trouble as this one was used to begin with and I love it enough to just order a new one instead of dealing with sending it in (I hate shipping things internationally) and waiting. Hopefully that's in 10 years or more...

Like I said in the other Tera Player thread, I'm thinking about picking one up soon. Portable audio just fits into my life more at the moment, and while I'm still enjoying my main home rig, I can see myself focusing on portable summit-fi primarily this year.

Totally with you on this one - I'd look into usb DACs such as the dragonfly/centrance/HRT offerings if that is a viable option for you. I will be receiving a DX100 and a HRT streamer pro in the mail soon to see how a top tier DAP compares to these portable DACs.

One of the reasons I'm not too interested in the Tera is the .wav support only and the lack of a proper interface (I feel a revision is coming soon as well).

I wouldn't be to sure about that. When i asked Charles about such things recently he said he had no intention of making any changes.... Unless you know he has changed his mind. Which would be great since i would love a nav screen on the Terra.

Revisions are not happening. I understand a lot of what he did with this device and only very very small changes if any really could be done without it being a whole new device.

Charles built the Tera over the course of a few years and uses it all the time himself. The idea of a revision is great, but it wouldn't be a hardware revision so drastic. I honestly would like my Tera Player less if it cost any bit more because of a screen, and also the fact that I would now have a screen. Screen-less is so much better for isolating sources of noise in a small device and better for me when I wanna keep my player in my pocket and be able to navigate to any and all of my music on that card. It's great for driving as I don't look at a screen meaning I can actually focus on the road.

On road trips with someone sitting shotgun, I can tell them exactly what to press and when to get to the songs we want to hear. And they usually pick up on how to navigate within 1 minute. If a revision comes out and it has a screen, count me out

Honestly, I'd be happy with even an tiny panel that scrolls left/ right to show the current track/album/info. Doesn't need to be a full blown touch screen.

As for the actual SQ I'd really need to get my hands on one to determine (someone lend me theirs? tongue.gif I will pay for shipping.) I am a pragmatist, and after going through so much stuff in this hobby that stance has only been reinforced.

As I said, I understand what he's done with this device. Their would need to be major changes to the hard ware to add a screen for any purpose. Their isnt enough memory for the commands to add anything like that. He'd have to completely re-develop with a new chip. That's not happening.

Then let us hope for a new device on the horizon.

This seems more of a prototype/ first iteration to me than a finished product (build-wise).

This player is so tempting. At about $1130 UDS, (830 Euros) it could replace my entire portable rig and will probably sound better. Plus, it is probably strong enough to drive my HD650's. Jeez, I should know better than to *ever* log on to this website. Somehow, it always costs me money!!
