They are very good at delivering bass so the bass rolloff is counteracted a bit to where it's a nice well controlled experience all around.

From what I understand it has some analog qualities to counteract the treble and bass rolloff. I hardly use the bass setting, keeping it below the slightest yellow color. But it kicks your head in if you turn it up more. It's great.

EDIT: I say confidence as the ZO2 is not exactly audiophile grade, more of a fun amp. And at first I thought it crazy to pair them but it's really an epic combination every once in a while to enjoy

I don't understand a lot of your posts. This is not a comment on the Tera but in one post you compliment the bass roll with your phones as a positive and in the next say a bass boosted amp combo is all that. I don't understand the added 'analog' qualities of the ZO2 either unless you mean the extra bass somehow sounding more analog. It's an non digital amp and not a DAC.

ZO2 can make my CIEMs and Tera Player feel like I'm at a concert with how much bass their is. Definitely not an every day thing that I do. The ZO2 has a technology called smartVektor and it's a completely analog solution. That's what I meant. here, read: http://www.digizoid.com/tech/index.html

So the basics are:

  • Tera Player + my CIEM's = nice combo as the bass rolloff is offset by the tremendous capabilities of the 15mm dynamic driver in my CIEMs....
  • Tera Player + digiZoid ZO2 + CIEM's = fun combination that is sublime for a basshead.

First of all, I hope that my idea would not sound too "crazy" so to speak.

What does it actually take to make an accessory that will swap SD cards, press the buttons after receiving commands remotely, and also charge the battery of TP?

Let's start with $30 battery (7000 mAh, 3.8V) similar to this one:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2102546

http://www.amazon.com/ZeroLemon-Extended-Protection-Compatible-Guarantee/dp/B00AKZWGAC

Then we will go for a single-board microcontroller like this one:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=name.antonsmirnov.android.arduinocommander&hl=en

If they were able to control sprinklers and simple RC car with Arduino, pressing buttons and swapping cards should be not that big a deal:

http://www.instructables.com/id/Simple-RC-car-for-beginners-Android-control-over-/

It would be great if we could get all that working and then control everything with this $20 gadget

Of course the question is - how do we get things done?

More importantly, is it worth the effort since most likely it will end up with some more like transportable.

Please feel free to chime in even if that were just too "out there" if you will. Thanks a lot.

Why do you want to do this? It make sense if you want to hook it up to your stereo as a stationary player. You can make a frame where the Tera will fit in a socket. The programming is very simple, piece of cake if you know a bit of C. Challenge is more mechanical than electrical.

I got an email from Charles, my Tera is coming!

I also got the good news :)

The project above sounds interesting, esp. if you want to save money on a quality source for your home hifi. Would be a nice challenge but IMO a bit too much effort for the gain.

me too ! Made me so.happy. looks like a batch of three.

Count me in for updates. I also am a computer science major and would like to get my hands dirty in this if I am of any help. Maybe at first in a consulting manner and take it from there. I have actually thought about this myself and never brought it up as I dont have the time right now to devote to making such an item. I want it in charge of plugging the card into a card reader though so i can add songs.

I contemplated another thing actually. This one you can use the idea if you want. The idea is simple.

SD cards come in a variety of manners, is it possible to maybe connect a usb cable to a sd card over some type of film wire. I've seen some microSD adapters to SD cards that people use with the DX100, so maybe make a specialized cable/card so you can use the Tera Player as a DAC to an amp in a home rig and use some music player on your computer to control the audio being played.

The Kiss principle?

The simplicity of the method you describe makes far, far more sense.

Here is an SD Card slot/extension cable - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SD-card-extension-Cable-/121085004035?pt=UK_Photography_MemoryCardReaders_RL&hash=item1c313a8903

and an SD card that doubles as a USB stick, http://www.engadget.com/2005/01/06/sandisk-ces-sd-card-with-built-in-usb-adapter/  (it looks like the part after the hinge is not a used part of the card and so could possibly be discarded?) to effectively allow a female - male usb cable to connect to a PC and with some clever coding/software mount a virtual sd card drive image on your pc?

Here's an experiment for you. Try using a microSDHC card in an adapter in the Tera Player....Then remove the microSDHC card from the adapter with the adapter still plugged in and re-insert that card in or another microSDHC card.....it won't work. At least on mine it doesnt. I don't think that cable would work either. It was more of an idea though, sometimes you gotta throw darts at a wall to see what connects. (or something like that)

You mean the TP has to be powered down first before it is able to read a new card? No hot swap... that complicates things.

Does it not work at all or can you replace it with a card with the same number of files and folders as the original card and see if it'll play them then?

In case this is useful: The tera player only reads the first 4 characters in file + folder names.

The TP always powers down when you swap a card. The card itself is the "on/off switch" so when you pull out the card, that is what turns it off, and when you push in the card, that is what turns it on. So swapping cards is always done when the Tera is off. It does read the new card instantly though and so music starts playing right away.
