Thanks also for the GR02BE comparison - I've been waiting to see one, and glad to see they made you a little less productive today.  If you're losing the treble, it could be too good of a seal blowing the bass up.  Try any foam or a smaller silicone?

That's right, i've forgotten about wind chill. Never mind, I am not at all jealous. However, I do miss this winter though. Last year's was humid and it rained a lot. I don't know how you do it in BC

No problem. The MT300 has more detail overall though both are lacking treble presence for my taste. As ClieOS put it, the strength of the GR02 BE is its lack of real weakness. I feel that applies to the MT300 as well with the MT300 having a more balanced sound.   At $4.97, you really can't go wrong with the MT300s. I'll try some other tips, probably a smaller silicone. 
 

Well, according to the weather network, today was along the lines of -24C, Feels like -35C (wind chill factor and all that accounted) here in Montreal. The cables withstood the cold just fine, granted I wasn't tugging on it to try and break it.

But yes, the aluminum housing haha... Despite wearing my tuque (or toque, if you like it) over my ears, being anything but wind-proof at some point I felt my ears were starting to hurt a tiny bit, probably from the aluminum housing being cold.

Wouldn't want to imagine the temperatures in the northernmost areas of Canada; this must be regular temperature for some of them.

But, "feels like" -35C and I also did over half hour of walking outside. Cables did not really suffer from the cold, and that's what matters ;)

I didn't check if they've gotten nice and stiff with the temperature but most do anyway.

Okay, I've had  these 'phones for a while and like most people here I've head a helluva time getting a good seal with a number of different tips.

So, I tried the blue tac mod from this thread: http://www.head-fi.org/t/299863/forget-the-audiologist-audiophile-holy-grail-heaven-for-just-1-blu-tack-and-in-ears-best-hack-ever

And HOLY CRAP DOES IT WORK WELL.  In fact, it works better for the MT300s than other iems I've tried it on because of the shorter nozzles.  I mean, damn, it's nice.

The bass/subbass is lower in quantity and the mids are more present. The difference was striking since I had come to think of the mt300 mids as flat.

Now I'm more inclined to say recessed. The experience is similar to when I received my brainwavz hm5 after using the denon d2k for some months.

The highs in the mh1c are also more present and sparkly.

Hey atomikn00b! Try as I might, I'm not hearing what you are hearing at all especially when it comes to the bass and mids. I am going to try some other tips on the mh1c though (currently using the large mh1c tips, and that's not working well). I will try the mt300's tips on them (assuming I can find them lol).

And maybe the song choice has an impact. Do you have a song or two that you think might be good to use as a reference point? Thanks!

Cool! I'm happy with the seal I'm getting with the mh1c midsized tips, but I might try out that blu tac for the heck of it. What kind of stores do you think carry it?

Wal-Mart carries it in the crafts section.  Honestly, there are a ton of different ones that are all pretty well the same except for color.  Just look for one that has "non-toxic" on the packaging somewhere and you're golden.  They're called putty adhesives (blue-tac, sticky-tac, UHU tac etc.)

Xscargo, its a store franchise in Canada AFAIK. They were on sale for $4.97 for a while, went back up to $9.99, down to $4.97 and now again to $9.99 I only found out about them through this thread and thank head-fi I did. These are wonderful sets of headphones.

Craft stores, office supply stores (such as Staples), dollar store...

they are also available on ebay, but a little bit more $. Also try a bit of a websearch there in Italy for something locally you might get lucky.

Home Hardware up North there might carry the Lepage's version of that blutack stuff I know they had something similar.

Everyone is different it goes without saying ( hmm I just did though, what a stupid expression ) I objectively TRIED to like the MH1C's again the other day , something about them didn't click with my hearing. They have been run in for ~40+ hours and i tried them again for about 1/2 hour. Nothing to do with the crap cable ( got some cables for an upcoming transplant sitting here ) or bass levels, but they were hmmmm, Dunno what it is. I will give em another shot though.

Will try some other tips again. Who knows.

Really trying to give the bass time to break in before I give any significant thoughts on these little TDKs that could.
