Surprise TDK MT-300: $4.97 of AWESOME... - Page 8

Hey these sound pretty good. They have good timbre detail right off the bat. I don't feel they are missing much sonically. They sound solid.. Very nice find guys. I had to adjust to them going from my CKS1000 to these but ya these are a great value for certain. Will try out other tips and give them a good burn in.

You got that right - good people in these parts! If I do ever get near an xscargo, I'll snag you a pair for sure.

Maybe this answers your question?: confused.gifconfused_face(1).gifmad.gifmad.gifmad.gif

I'm really looking forward to it!  And hopefully I will win the "they got the left/right channel right" sweepstakes!

I am getting those FXZ200s for sure, in due time.........................................LoL

So at Headphone Bar the other day we figured that someone at Imation Canada really screwed up the launch of TDK Life on Record headphones in Canada.  Or, rather, probably just pissed off someone in procurement at Best Buy/FutureShop, the only massive, nation-wide retailer that would buy that much stock, thereby leaving Imation with some 3000pcs of MT-300s and who knows what else.  As I do have an interest in S&M (that's Sales and Marketing, you sicko!), I also found it strange that the TDK dealer costs fluctuated wildly which tells me they really did not have any price integrity or controls (Sennheiser is a good example of this done properly).  Maybe that sort of stunt works in the storage media world, but it did not seem to work in headphones.  What this means is it might be a while yet before we see TDK headphones make another attempt at Canada (clearly whoever was responsible for the marketing had not heard about head-fi!).  While I would like to see them bring in more great quality gear and stay, I'm also loving the $4.97 I paid for awesome IEMs!

I'm planning to go to XScargo to get a pair of these, but I am not sure if they are just a fake version of them or just crappy merchandise?

Has anyone bought a pair of these from XScargo? any feed back?

That's where the majority of them are being bought, ( i got all of mine there - let's just say lots - can't get them anywhere else except maybe ebay or Amazon in the US or? ) they aren't fakes ( pretty obscure IEM to bother faking ) just basic barebones packaging it's the way they are.

XScargo is a clearance seller for large companies. And nope it's not crappy merchandise, as you will find out hopefully soon. bigsmile_face.gifThey do overstock sales, company buyouts, bankruptcy stock etc that sort of thing.

Look at their site it explains it there.

Far as I know there are no other stores in Canada that sell them, as inline79 was speaking about with some other folks in the previous post.

Go grab em while you can and don't worry! ( report back )

They are up to $10 right now but might ( can't be sure ) drop again after the next sale flyer starts. Still a deal at $10.

Travis at HB brought it up last time when we came over. Good news for us, as they'll probably never run out of stock until the collective powers of head-fi buy out all 3000 units. Curious, though, as to why Visions or London Drugs or some similar outfit would not take them instead. Not very knowledgeable on how the whole retail business works. tongue.gif

My location is getting low though I can't see them flogging all of them soon. It's a slow process it seems.

Never know though there's still quite a few to check in with impressions. That we know of anyhow.

Picked up a set today at XScargo in Kitchener, the price is back to $9.99.

The initial impression out of the box is they remind me of the Klipsh S4. We'll wait to see what improvements burn in will do.

Just felt the need to say that I'm still listening to these cheapies all of the time and loving them ksc75smile.gif

A-B'd these with the S4's. With just a couple of hours of burn in the TDK's definitely have a better sound.

Make sure you try them with different tips if you can. I really like them with the mh1c mid sized tips.

That is also what I settled on since i don't listen to the MH1C anymore much, if at all.

Using the large MH1C tips here. bigsmile_face.gif

Have to get that seal to bring these out.

At least there's enough folks with those to be able to make a similar comparison. But nothing's ever that perfect in here.
