These seem a much more 'desktop friendly' design than the O2.

I'm so torn, I can get a used Asgard for $50 more, but this runs cooler and is much smaller, and as shown from pics, was made to be stacked with their DAC I'll be getting...sooo torn!

Agreed. Looks like the Magni will address the missing functionality of the Gungnir/Mjolnir stack accommodating for single ended headphones. I now have one less excuse to not pull the trigger on the TH900. Damn.

I don't really need an amp and/or DAC atm, but this was too tempting.. so I, too, have ordered the Magni & Modi stack tonight.  I've wondered what the fuss was about discrete designs for some time now.. and this is as good an opportunity as any to find out.

 

I'll do my best to provide impressions (or time permitting, a full blown review) with my current gear (see my signature).. it should provide some some stiff & relevant (considering the price) competition to the Magni/Modi.  This is my first purchase from Schiit & I've never heard any of their other offerings, so I'm quite excited.

Wow! This looks quite awesome! It may be that if things work out I might get one of these possibly. I would love to see how the magni especially compares to amps arounf (and even above?) its price point.

 

I also find this funny from the modi faq on their website:

 

How can you do this when other guys are trying to sell plastic USB key DACs for 2.5x the price?

 

Hmmm....I wonder what DAC THAT could possibly be? :P

Packing up the E17 for return.

The Magni is as good as mine. I may get the Modi just becauseI'm a sucker for symmetry.

Hell, I may end up putting the SA-31 for sale, and focusing on headphones.
