I use to assemble HiFi gear in an earlier life and this seems to be a classic case of a generic knob over a bit too small pot shaft. If there is a small hole somewhere on the knob, use an alen key to unscrew the locking pin there. Then put some tape on the shaft to fattten the diameter and gently screw everything back in place (not too thight). Everything shoud be properly aligned then.

Just a thought.

yep but man 16VAC is hard to find so I'll prolly just throw in a 30watt AC-AC converter and call it a day. Also I'd rather not use adjustable voltage ones since those may be significantly noisy.

Well.... I seem to be the only one who found it interesting that you can bypass the Ipad's DAC with the modi with no other power source...... Just got done watching Lawless with Ipad>modi>lyr>HD650. Modi/magni stack could come in handy at work actually to be able to listen from an ipad.

I'd be interested... IF I used apple products, but no removable storage kills it! tongue.gif

This! The Nexus 10 is beautiful, with Android and USB storage via OTG after root, and that screen, oh that screen! biggrin.gif

So my magni arrived today, and I hooked it up to my fiio e10. It makes the hd 650 sound more forward, treble noticeably becomes sharper with the v pot dialed up. Idk, I have mixed feelings about it. It does sound different for sure compared to e10 alone, but I feel like it takes away the laid back sound of just the hd, 650 with the e10. Not sure if it's bc my vpot is too high. I turned it from 3o clock down to 12 position.

My Magni arrived today to, I'm also using it for my HD650s, but I like, except for one thing... INSANE channel imbalance, it all goes to the right ear, unless, I turn the volume pot all the up, and then use software volume control, which detriments audio quality! The audacity of them, this is an outrage!!! What a piece of Schiit! biggrin.gif (To anyone wondering, I sent them an email, and they replied in less than 15 minutes, even though they're closed... GREAT customer support, and no, I'm not really mad at them. tongue.gif)

I have to use a powered USB hub with my Modi hooked up to my ipad 3, otherwise I get an error message because of the current draw. You must have gotten one of the experimental Modi's with it's own tiny nuclear reactor--just don't get it wet.

Wow, that is pretty crazy, mine only has channel imbalance from around 7 (zero volume) up to maybe 7:30 or 8. I'm still digitally attenuating a bit so I have a nice usable volume range, but my volume knob is good from 8 all the way around to 5.
