Sweet! I have one of those biggrin.gif

Does anyone know what the construction is like on the PYST USB A-B cable?

Any other(better?) USB cable recommendations in the same price range ($20).

Does the Modi have any kind of USB power filtering built in?  Does it even matter considering its design and other components?

Yes, significant filtering, including multiple inductors, several ferrite isolators, multiple regulated supplies for both analog and digital stages, 20+ local bypass caps, careful management of analog and digital grounding. USB power can be pretty bad.

Thanks. Does that mean a dedicated USB power source/filter would be unnecessary for the modi?

Crap I thought you said RCA cables... (Click to show)

It's pretty good, the cables have good quality, heavy duty, connectors. The cable part is a insulated piece of metal and not much else... For 20 dollars it was a decent price for a set of cables that look good, have good quality connectors, and are short to prevent excessive signal loss and clutter.

FYI my connectors are silver colored, which is okay since it matches the color of the amp/dac but I would have preferred the pictures black.

They should really put up a photo or 2.

I just wish they offered the usb cable in a greater length, like 6 feet... Do you know if the usb cable has ferrite chokes?

2. All of them may need a powered USB hub. We seem to be right at the limit of current draw on iOS devices; sometimes it works, sometimes you get the "this device draws too much power" error.

We'll be demoing with the Lightning CCK in the future.

For Android, we're still experimenting with USB OTG and the Audio Recorder Pro app; it seems to be a little more finicky, but we'll report back on compatibility, as well as adding the Lightning CCK compatibility, on the site shortly.

The good news is that we've never had the "too much power" warning with our Modi and the CCK, so we've never needed to use a powered hub with it and our iPad minis or iPad 4.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I'd be all over the Modi if it had SPDIF output in addition to the line out.

This is probably a dumb question, but exactly what cables do I need for these?

I recently ordered my Magni/Modi stack along with a pair of HD650s. Are these the right cables that I need?

Yup those are them.

Thanks for the confirmation. And do I only need 1 order of each?

yeah you only need 1 USB cable A - B make sure it's USB 2.0. And 2 RCA cables (the one you posted is a pair of 2 so you're good on those). If you plan on using these with a 3.5mm headphone then you will need to buy a 1/4in plug to 1/8in adapter.

Edit: I looked at that set of RCA cables when I purchased my M&M stack, some reviews on amazon said they are cheaply made and fit too tight in the RCA plugs so I bought the PYST cables to play it safe.

Also steer clear of the mediabridge USB A to B cable as if I run the cable underneath my laptop or over my phone I get a terrible amount of noise until I move the cable, they are subpar, the B end also sticks out quite a bit from the DAC usb input so it's not secure and wobbles all over.

I'll probably purchase the PYST USB cable, but never got an answer of whether there were ferrite chokes on them or if it makes a difference in high noise environments or not...

Edit 2: I bought the cable, damn is shipping a killer...
