Slows down my Clip +?

Hello everyone!

Seeing as this is my first post in the forum I would like to ask a question.

Currently I am using the Sansa Clip + with the AKG 450K.

and I want to add an SD card seeing as I have the 4GB model and I mostly listen to FLAC content.

so, 2 question are on the table:

1: Will my player slow down when I'll insert an SD card into it?

2: how big of an SD card can I fit into the Clip +?

Thanks in advance! :D

The default firmware on the Clip+ wants to refresh the database every time you turn it on.  If you've got a large SD card in it you will have to wait a while before you can play music.  If that's what you mean by slowing down then you are right.  Also bear in mind that the default firmware on the Clip+ won't play WAV files from the SD card and doesn't support FLAC.  The answer to both problems is RockBox.  That firmware starts playing immediately upon turning the unit on, and reads WAV and FLAC from anywhere - as well as adding a whole host of new features to the Clip+

I've used a 32GB microSD in my Clip+ with no problems, with RockBox of course.

Chiming in, I have a Rockboxed clip with a 64GB card, no issues. Refreshing the database does take a minute or two, but I can do it on demand with Rockbox, so it works out really well.

First of all, thanks for the response.

Second, Well lucky for me I already have Rockbox installed, so I won't have any problem.

Well just one more thing directed at you "reginalb", Do you have an additonal 64GB card in addition to the included memory that comes with the device itself?(the question itself is if the Clip+ can support 64GB cards?)

Yes, you have to format it to FAT32. This is the card I have in my clip+

No. You would have to spring a few extra for a card reader, if you don't already have one. (it comes with a full size SD adapter, so if you computer has an SD slot, as many do now, you can just use that)

Well I don't, but If I set my Clip + into MSC can't I just format it while it's in the SD slot.
