upgrading from xonar DX

What is better than a xonar DX?

Right now ive got a ad700, but might goto akg or something later... any idea's?

 

 

 

 

 

ALSO

Can i get any advice on how to set up EQ and such with the DX and my ad700's for best competitive gaming? (most planetside 2)

What are you looking for exactly ? For better sound quality, try other headphones first, and then a good headphone amplifier like the O2 (which would be useful for the AKGs in particular); the DAC on your card is fine. However, for better gaming support, an X-Fi card would be worth trying.

Well im looking to upgrade my headphones and soundcard in the long run..

However.. would you be able to recommend a headset that = ad700's soundstage and accuracy, but sound better.. or would a xfi make that much of a difference?.. and could you reccomend a xfi card?

It all depends on your budget.

 

AD700 are exceptional headphones for competitive gaming. If you want to have mic capabilities, just add a clip-on mic or a boom mic to the AD700.

 

Given that you do your fair share of gaming, especially competitive gaming, look into a refurbished Creative X-Fi Titanium going for $34.99, or a Creative X-Fi Titanium HD going for $109.99.

The Auzentech X-Fi Forte slots between the base Creative X-Fi Titanium and the flagship Creative X-Fi Titanium HD.

 

Basically, if you can stretch your budget (not much, given the Titanium HD's price drop), definitely get the Titanium HD. If not, get the X-Fi Forte, and lastly consider the regular Titanium.

 

Considering the gaming you do, get a X-Fi powered card.
