Fiio E7 only works power connected

I just got my Fiio E7, but it only works if it's connected to a power source.

When disconnected, it says: 

 

Bye Bye

Unlock

 

It works fine via USB, USB charge is on and the Fiio logo blinks red.

 

When I turn USB charging off, the Fiio shuts off. It's says Bye Bye every time I turn it on, until I unplugg it from the power source.

 

Is the battery broken? What should I do?

Either the battery is depleted and you need to recharge it before it can be turned on or the battery has went bad in storage before getting to you. Either ways, you should charge it for a few hours to see if it will hold any charge or not.
