Doing research on AKG 701 for PC gaming....few questions

Hey guys,looking into many forums i have done a good bit of research,but you guys are the experts and just before i buy could you answer the following.

 

1.I am  a hardcore PC gamer,not console(the main gaming thread seems to be geared towards the consoles more)..How does the AKG 701 look for PC gaming.....mainly BF3....anyone have a pair? If so how are they?

 

2.I am looking into a PC sound card for them(if they are good) could you recommend a few?

 

3.Do i need a good Amplifier still? If o could you recommend one for these headphones?

 

4.How are they for Movies/Music?

 

 

thanks...any more info on what you could advise would be class

 

PS ive never bought a good pair of headphones...always turtle bech px21....so im a little paranoid in buying headphones at a high price.

i dont own these hps, so i can only tell you what ive read about em

1.  soundstage, imagining and separation are extremely good on the k701s.  i dont think theres any better headphone at the k701's price range in terms of soundstage

2.  xfi titanium hd or asus xonar essence.  its almost universally accepted that cmss3d (xfi) is the better choice for gaming, over dolby headphone (asus).  though im not sure how xfi drivers are nowadays, especially with windows 8 out

3.  yes, fiio e11 for under $100.  i dont think you need to spend big on an amp for gaming, but there much better amps for music if you wanna pay more

4.  should be great for movies.  for music theres kinda a love hate affair, generally people who like detailed hps will praise em, while others will hate them for their lack of 'warmth.'  going with the q701s and a warm amp like a schiit lyr really help if youre looking for something less thin/cold than the k701s

I have an AKG K701 and an Xonar STX. Im not a serious PC gamer by any means but I game on a regular basis using said setup.
