Friend wants to buy beats solo, want alternatives

Thread Starter
For some reason my friend really wants beats. My alternative list for him currently would be crossfade m80 and the sennheiser hd25. Or if for almost no money he could get the me electronics ht21. That's what I have. He doesn't have a credit card so if you could think of a good option at best buy or RadioShack that would be preferable. Otherwise I'll have him pay me and I'll buy em.

M80s or if he wants more bass tho still controlled go with the new Monster DNA. Look for the thread in this forum with more details. In short...they are much better than Beats solo.

+1 for the m-80's

Definitely the M-80s. They're better in every way.

He's probably one of those people who think "It's expensive so it must be great", and the inverse of that statement.

But that's what I think of every Beats owner so whatever.

Anyways, on-topic: If he want's a good fart cannon (emphasized midbass) he should get the M-80. If he wants a good all-around neutral headphone that also has absolutely amazing bass, he should get a Beyer DT1350.

Ether the LP or M-80 will be fine and "beat out" any Beats.  And don't forget about the Audio Technica ATH-M50 either.

How about Audio Technica's Solid Bass line (WS55, 77, and 99)? I can't personally vouch for the sound of any of them, but a few members have been raving over the new and top of the line (price-wise) WS99 over here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/650449/the-new-ws99-at-fan-thread.

To my eyes, they all look good as well. They're sleek-looking without fishing for attention the way most celebrity-endorsed headphones do.
