Looking for closed cans for accurate sound reproduction!

Hello! I'm searching for an ideally sub-£200 (can stretch budget somewhat if really worth it), closed-back headphones with accurate sound reproduction for referencing mixdowns in busy environments, i.e. at college. I've recently dabbled in electronic production, and I need a pair of headphones balanced enough to hear what the music really sounds like, while being engaging enough for personal listening. I'd also like rotating ear cups for a better fit. Over-ears are a must. I've looked at the AKGs K167/550s, Shure SRH940s, KRK KNS 8400s, Denon D2000s, and a few others. I've been very much drawn to the K167s. Another passing note; because I'll be wearing them at college, I don't want to look like an astronaut with the headphones on.

I realise it's a specific desire, but can anyone help me? It's such a difficult decision without any avenue of opportunity to try the bloody things out!

Danke!

Hate to bump my own thread, but it's pretty urgent, a Christmas thing!

Cheers guys.

Definitely check out the Beyerdynamic dt250 thread.  Other than the non-rotating ear cups, they're what you're looking for, I think. I haven't heard the other ones you mentioned, however, but from what I read, the Beyer is more 'reference' quality.

I'll definitely give them a look mate! Thanks very much.

EDIT: Another thing I'll be using them for in the very near future is DJing, so isolation is a big priority. This is the reason also behind the swivelling cups. Cheers!

I'm using the k167 on my native instruments rig with satisfying results. Isolation is remarkable too. They will need 15-30 hours for a break in.
