Ultrasone Pro 550 Velour Earpads?

New to the forum, lots of great info on here. I'm currently using a Sony 7506, and I'm looking to take a slight step up with headphones soon with the Ultrasone Pro 550s. Only thing is, I really don't like pleather pads and currently am using the dt250 velour pads on my Sony's. Which velour pads would fit the Pro 550s?

Tough to say - if they have the same mounting ring as the other PRO models, I would believe the PRO750 pads to fit. Or you could just buy the PRO750. smily_headphones1.gif

If they don't have to be closed-back, the HFI-2400 would be another consideration.

I believe the PRO900 pads should work. I'll go and give them a try now.

Thanks, I had looked into those, but they're an extra $40+ frown.gif. I'm a student trying to stick to a budget, so the PRO750s are out of the question unfortunately. I'm looking for closed-back since I'll mainly be using these during bus rides and in the library. Are there any other suggestions? Otherwise guess I'll consider the pads from ultrasone or maybe just go with the HFI 780s with the dt250 pads again.

The Ultrasone pads would be what fit the "speed-switch" mounts. This will change the sound and reduce isolation btw.

Thanks, where'd you get the PRO900 pads? From Ultrasone directly?

It came with my PRO900.

They should, given that those are Pro 900 ;)

It should be noted different Pro models have pads with different sizes and shapes. For instance, the Pro 900 pads are larger than Pro 2900 pads, while the Pro 750 pads are smaller than the Pro 550 pads.

This is good to know. I was aware that the 900 was bigger than the 2900, but was not aware that the 750 was smaller too.

I just pointed that out because it affects isolation and overall presentation, which depending on the mixing and matching of pads and headphones, can either improve or worsen sound quality.
