I think the UE900 is the better option among the two for rock/metal. It has very good bass, but it isn't overpowering. I sold my W3 am currently using the UE900s.

Just curious, were you using silicone or comply tips in the westone 3? The UE900 seems like a good choice as well, there's one thing though, people say it has a warm sound but I prefer a brighter sound with elevated treble. I'll check the GR07 out as well.

I've got all 3 and I would choose the PFE232 (grey filter). Like others have already stated, they are the most comfortable iems I've tried to date.

For the record, W3 was meant to be used with comply tips or UM56 only which make the midrange very present (and it should be with a dedicated midrange driver with a 3-way crossover).  All the silicone tips contribute to some level of siblance and tend to recess the midrange somewhat.  So if you don't like using complys or don't have any plan to get UM56 I would honestly steer clear of it.

I used both depending on the rate of disturbance.....long distance traveling, less disturbances -> comply foam.

 

I should say that the UE900 does not satisfy your requirement for a bright SQ and elevated treble.
