M50's have gone to the dark side

Hello head-fi,

 

I have had my Audio-Technica M50's and they have been used off and on for about 2 years now-since December 2010. Even though I am not a fan of the headphones anytime I tried to sell them I got a fraudulent buyer. Enough about the story behind them.

 

I have been using them recently in a college class that requires headphones. At the end of each day I wrapped the cord around the headband of the headphones. I never thought it would hurt a thing, but now they don't even work. No sound, nothing, jiggle the cord, nothing. So where should I start looking for problems at? I have the looked the headphones entirely over and did not find anything strange. Should I just send it to Audio Technica for $30 to get them fixed or run a new wire if it is something that serious?

It would be internal, maybe you just loosened the sodder on the connection to the drivers. If you trust yourself with that.... do it yourself *Or if you have a trustworthy friend whos good at it* , otherwise professional fixing. Hmm... Selling on ebay? You should maybe list it on headfi :P would be home territory.

No, the buyer was on head-fi. Had one post, and emailed me about them. I told him what was up, and said I would get him the paypal shortly after he provided his address. But no, he sent the cash to a paypal account that was for my business without even telling me. Then told me to send it to someone in California who would send it to Korea or something. I found the idea sketchy and didn't want to be involved, and thus he left me a negative feedback for something I didn't do wrong.

Oh, well... Tips would be to avoid anyone brand-new or who isnt involved and part of the community. Luckly I never had issues sellin here.
