Bass Quality on Denon AHD7100

I recently bought the Denon's AHD7100 off the Denon store in Bangkok and I am using it with Fiio E17.

I am quite disappointed with the bass quality of the headphones as I can hear cracking at high volume levels - for music I am playing via iTunes on a mac or Winamp on Windows. Anything I am doing wrong?

Hi wtfspiffed,

 

My brother owns the Denon D7100s aswell and he hasn't had this cracking problem, so it may be an actual problem with the headphone themselves and not your setup.

well, this was the first headphones that properly reproduced "Aaron Copland - Fanfare for the Common Man" without any distortion (with M-Stage Amp). I assume the bass quality is OK then.
