I have the opportunity to catch a hifiman h-300 ... I was wondering a while a new headphone ... comfortable, neutral (well defined, can have some serious) and can be used with asus xonar dx + fiio e11 ...
was thinking the hd 518, hd 558, HFI-580, beyerdinamic dt dt 990 or 770 ...
could you tell me if he hifiman-300 is better than those?

Heya,
If it's a revision 2 (second release) HE-300, it's a great headphone to have, and similar in equivalence to the HD600 and DT880 almost, since it's actually less expensive and easier to drive in general. A good alternative.
Look up reviews.
Very best,

Heya,
Revision one had very strange mids, didn't sound right at all. I would not buy it unless it's extremely discounted and you're prepared to equalize it. Still, wouldn't bother probably.
Revision 2 has different drivers. Sounds different. Much more balanced. Much improved.
Classy them as being a warm neutral.

InnerFidelity has some good graphs showing the changes.
Revision 2 has a different driver, and now they're shipping with different cables than the original, plus different accessories.

Very best,
Is there a way to visually check which driver I have? The innerfidelity graphs are cool, but they dont help me. Are the versions numbered, look different, etc.. I think I have a fairly early version, so it may indeed be version 1.
