Which desk amp for grado Ps500 ? New DAC or i stay with the Asus Xonar essence st ?

Hi everybody !

Everything is in the title, i need an amp for my grado because i use it directly in the 6.3 input from my soundcard and i regulate the sound with a little "sound regulator" delivered with my westone 4.

My budget is around 300 € for an occasion product or new i don't really know ..

Another thing, amp lamp are better with this kind of headphone or not ?

The Essence ST's built in PCM1792A DAC chip should serve you well.

 

Impedance is resistance, measured in Ohms.

You want the headphone impedance at least 8 times (or more) the impedance of the amplifier driving the headphones

 

The headphone amplifier in the Essence ST has a 10-Ohm impedance and your headphones are 32-Ohm and 31-Ohm.

You want a headphone amplifier with no more then 4-Ohms for better driving of your current headphones.

The O2 (Objective 2) headphone amplifier, $155, comes with a low .5-ohm impedance, you would plug it into the RCA jacks of the Essence ST (2-channel audio only).
