I just purchased a pair of MDR V6s as well as a pair of Sennheiser HD 280s.

I was looking at also buying an amp and thought that the FiiO E6 looked like a good deal.

Should I even bother buying an amp for these headphones?

They both already drive very easily, and I'm not sure how much an amp would help.

Thanks.

If you do a lot of computer listening an external DAC will probably give you the most improvement.  An external DAC like the Total Bithead ( which happens to be an amp as well ) almost always removes significant noise from the PC audio train.

What sources are you plugging everything into?

Either an iPod or PC / Mac.

For the PC, get an Asus Xonar DG ($26, PCI) or DGX ($40, PCI-E) sound card

Apple products usually come standard with better built in audio support.

Or get a Fiio E10 ($44.99) USB-DAC-Headphone amplifier, would work with both PC and Mac computer.

IPod, chances are the E6 would not really improve the audio quality over the iPod's built in audio.

Fiio E11 ($48), with L cable ($10), might help audio quality a little over the IPod's built in audio.
