Q701 semi-open or fully open?

Hello,

 

I've been looking at this HP recently and I've noticed that some site spec it as semi-open and some as fully open

Are there two versions of this headphones?

And if not, which one is it?

AKG's PDF on their website says semi-open. Ok, but totally expect it to be like a fully open headphone.

 

The PDF for the K702 and K701 says fully open. Maybe it's just a typo for the Q701.

It sounds like a mistake on the product description. They are open back.

Regardless of what the "marketing folks" say, these are open headphones and leak accordingly. Kinda like semi-pregnant. tongue.gif

Yeah, but I think they leak less than the K702. You can check this on Headrooms page somewhere.

Yep, just due to some silly foam behind the mini grill biggrin.gif (that the K702 doesn't have).

 

I think the HD-598 actually leaks sound more than my Q701!

open. If you cup your hands around the back of the drivers while listening, you will hear a big difference.

I dont know why Akg says they are semi-open, there should be a reason? is there some kind of foam behind the headphone grill? curious.

Yes, there is foam behind the driver. They are still open, but this may be why AKG sometimes calls them semi-open. They do not isolate and they do leak, so they are open.
