I have these headphones. I bought them after my Turtle Beach Z6A broke (headband joint).
Overall, the sound is ok (they will sound like rubbish out of the box so you need to setup properly - 17% for Front, Rear, Center, 100% for Sub, 100% for all dials on remote). The surround sound is very good (the whole point of them) and it is much better than ANY 2.0 stereo headphone. Bass is weird though as it seems to be more vibration than audio bass. You can kind of get around the problem with EQ.
They do not block or isolate sound at all. The cups have a strong resonance and vents. The leak a lot like open backs. Ear cups are around 1 inch deep.
These are gaming headphones, they do well at that. I wouldn't use them for music at all. A post here might help you to configure for music though: http://www.head-fi.org/t/500475/roccat-kave
I always insist on 5.1 dedicated speakers for the cups, after much testing they perform much better than dual drivers.
The roccat kave has THREE speakers in each cup. Front, Rear and Sub/vibration. The center is shared with the front which some may see as not 5.1 but 4.1. I don't see how having a dedicated center would positively effect sound anyway in this setup.
