Some gear is on the way but i don't even know what to do with it

Hi folks!!!
This is NOT yet another "what do i have to buy" post since i've placed my order already...

the problem is that i don't know how to make it sound good and portable!!!

My FiiO e17 alpen and a pair of brainwavz r1 and shure 215 are on the way but,

i really don't know (aside laptops and spdif sources wich are not portable), what to use as a portable source.

 

Maybe an ipod? Sansa clip? you are going to say BUT, no usb out from this devices...i don't know.

 

Currently i have the samsung galaxy s2 but the dac is crap and there's no USB audio out possible at the moment.

 

Nothing more, nothing less.

 

PS: NooB question time:
"If i use for example the fiio to amplify the suond that comes out from the phone or the player, i have to set the player volume to max or....??"

 

Suggest me someting portable to use!!!!!!!!!

There are custom roms for that phone that support usb audio out. Pretty sure Cyanogenmod does, it was included in the nightlies a while back, should be in a stable release by now.

No point going out from the Samsungs headphone output into the FIIO, maybe Hifiman 601 or Studio V?

 

If you want a portable player with a digital out then its the DX100, 801 and not a lot else.

Some mobiles like my Nokia N8 goes USB digital output and mighty fine it sounds too.

Search around here for threads on your phone.

Wait wait wait wait.....

I am searching the entire damn world wide web since 3 weeks and i've found that only the galaxy s3 is able to use the usb audio out, but not the gs2 EVEN with custum kernels and roms.

 

If you're right, you've made my day dude.

I'll give a shot, thank you very much.

But as you can see, i need to investigate more about the usb audio out capability of the galaxy s2.

If is possible, i will go out on the snow naked on the streets and i will roll myself on the ground pretending i'm a slug.

AHAHA just joking...

Well, it's not just an S3 thing, it's implemented in Jelly Bean in general. Google has put it in to the source. CM10 for the S2 should have it. There are a few commands that the Fiio would have to send, but I really think you could send the commands with something like sqlite yourself. But someone on this forum mentioned that they had it working on an S2.
