It's preferred to have the impedance of the headphones be at least 8 times the impedance of the source your plugging the headphones into.

The E09K amplifier has a 10-Ohm impedance, which is fine for headphones that are 80-Ohms or more.

(I use 50-Ohm headphones on a 10-Ohm amplifier, which works fine for me)

The 62-Ohm Q701s should still sound good plugged into the E09K.

 

The E17 has a .5-Ohm impedance, so headphones that are 4-Ohms or higher is fine.

 

I would assume the E09K/E17 would be great for use with the Q701.

But as I have never used the Q701.

Might be best ask on this thread about amplifying the AKG Q701.

If the O2 can drive the Beyerdynamic T1, then it can drive the AKG, it even handled the Hifiman HE6

I have a quick question about the E17 & E09k so I'll ask it here before starting a thread... thankstongue_smile.gif

 

Briefly, using hd25 + E17 together and LOVE it, listen to a lot of FLAC soundtracks with my partner. I'm now looking at some hd650's and getting the E09k to drive them, continuing to use my E17 docked as DAC. My question is, with the E17 docked to the E09k and using optical-in, could we simultaneously get music from the E17's headphone socket to the hd25's, as well as music out of the E09k for the 650's?

 

I guess I just need to know if using the two together cuts out the E17's headphone jack - I know we could use a headphone splitter, but it seems in my head to be a lot better for the E09k only to drive the 650's and it's volume dial have nothing to do with driving the hd25's, which I find the E17 to be perfect for. Thanks again to anyone who may be able to clear this up for me.

Theoretically I think no, because the E17's amp shuts down when docked.

I get you, so it either amplifies the signal for it's own headphone socket or passes the music unamped to the E09k. It would have been cool to do both but I suppose a little weird technically when you think of it like that. Thanks for letting me know.
