Need some suggestions

Hi everyone, I'm relatively new to the high-end headphone segment. I've had a pair of Sennheiser HD428s for about a year and a half and absolutely love them, but I haven't really tried much else. With Christmas coming up I'm looking around for some ideas on something to keep at home, with the intention of using the 428s as a travel/commute pair. They'll be hooked up to an ASUS Xonar Essence STX. I was looking at the Sennheiser HD598s but I'm not sure if open backs would work for me, I mainly use my headphones once the others in my house have gone to bed, so I need to remain quiet. If the sound leaking isn't terrible then open would be fine. So I'm looking for any suggestions you folks can give, I'd like to stay under or around $350. Thanks.

I think a used Seen HD558 is a better value, prices for used are $115 to $138 at Amazon and Electronics Expo.

Are the headphones used on the STX for music? gaming? movies?

Are the sleeping "housemates" behind a closed door or two?

Gaming mostly, with music very close behind. I care more about their performance for music, however.

As for housemates one is in a room adjacent to my own, the others are across the hallway.

As your gaming, it might be a little safer to go with closed.

Audio Technica ATH-A900X (Also might want check out the A700X model, check reviews)

Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 250-Ohm
