So today I recieved my PortaPro KTCs back from warranty repair and the left driver has really really bad bass rattle, I'm a bit fed up and really don't feel like sending them back to Koss for like the 5th time... I swear I remember reading that you could get some KSC75s and just pop the driver into a Koss PortaPro headband, has anyone done this? is it possible? thanks guys

Yes it is a direct snap in. I have the Porta, Sporta and KSC75's and they are all interchangeable.

I'd also pop the grill on the Portas and give them a good blow out. Perhaps some dust or debris made it in there during the repair.

You have any experience with them in a PortaPro headband?

Also Koss' quality control is ****!

Already did, absolutely nothing under there.

Pretty sure it's a brand new pair too, guess the driver's just messed up...

Bugger! I'd write Koss an email. Maybe they will throw in a pair of 75's with the next repair:)

EDIT (and why the devil do they not have a presence on this forum???)

Heh. So how do the KSC75 drivers sound on the PortaPro headband?

Excellent. They are a much better behaved driver than the PortaPro's. Less "less beat you upside the head" bass and more mids with the resulting increase in detail. For the price it's sort of a "why not" proposition.

I'll probably grab some off of eBay assuming the ones for $15 are real.

Bass doesn't get killed that much does it? I know the PortaPros have a bit bloated bass but I actually sort of liked that...

They are actually pretty neutral with some sparkle in the treble but no harshness and mid bass is boosted just enough to be fun but not bloated. I honestly don't know how anyone could not like them as they are just a good sounding headphone in an HD600 sort of way - they dont thrill but they do no wrong.

So how do I pop my PortaPro drivers off the headband?

They quite literally just snap on. I use my thumbs under the edges and press out gently.

Grab the headband with one hand, grab a driver with the other hand (on either side), and PULL! When it comes off, you'll know lol!
