If I already own the DT770 Pro, would it be a bad idea to purchase an open-backed pair for around $60?

I currently own the DT770 pro headphones. I was wanting to order a pair of open-backed headphones like the Superlux 668b or Takstar Hi2050. Would those headphones provide a different enough sound to be worthwhile? Or should I just stick with the DT770?

It's never a bad thing to get more headphones if your bank balance allows for it.

Yes. Open and closed headphones offer significantly different experiences and you'll definitely hear it. I haven't heard either of the open backed headphones you mentioned, but I would suggest saving a little bit more and reaching a slightly higher price point.

The lowest stock open headphone that I've heard and been impressed at for its price point is the ATH-AD700, currently on Amazon for ~$100. If this is an option for your budget, I would give it a strong recommendation.

What do you currently plug your headphones into?

Beyer DT880 would be worth the upgrade.

Er. Funny thing is, I haven't even gotten my DT770 yet. Still shipping xD.

But I plug into an iPhone 4S. And now more recently, for lossless files, iPod touch 3G
