50mm driver open air full size cans pop out of nowhere, sound amazing - Page 32

My order from aliexpress has not arrived and it's been 2+ weeks.  I opened a dispute and they said they will refund me.  I don't know if it's still going to arrive or not.  Maybe I could buy from somewhere else.  But I'd rather not wait even more for china mail.

2-3 weeks is not unusual for AliExpress. I think my Somic orders from them took just under 4 weeks. A little premature for a dispute.

Even until today every now and then i always end up going back to use these somic headphones. Do you guys actually recommend buying new earpads or doing some modding ?

For me using takstar 2050 pads was the deal breaker. With stock and hm5 pads bass was way too much. For me it was too inaccurate and bled all over other frequences. With takstar pads it's more controlled without loosing the great impact it had. Maybe my rig just brings out the bass impact but I'm always amazed by it. And this is coming from a owner of dx1000,xb500 and xb700. With takstar pads great mids and huge soundstage really come through. Also what is worth mentioning is how realistic everything sounds...there is so much space around the instruments. This is rarely if ever heard with headphones of this price...And I've heard A LOT of so called giant killers. My only complaints are that somics sound a bit edgy they lack that certain smoothnes that even bright higher end headphones such as k701 have. Also the soundstage is artificially wide. Sometimes sound comes so far by my sides that it reminds me that I'm listening headphones instead of speakers. I'm planning on buying another pair and inserting somic driver into a angled driver housing...hope that will solve the fake soundstage issue. I've been unable to make up my mind which I prefer somics or takstars but these two are definately something awesome. Not as good as hd600 or k701 but good enough to make me sell my sennheisers and akg's. I could no longer justify having that expensive headphones being only complimentary headphones for dx1000.

Are those the same/better than Somix?  I don't see many reviews for it.

I opened a dispute because they didn't give me a working tracking number.  It's in their policy to give me a full refund if I don't get a tracking number.  Plus who knows if they sent it or not.

I'm also interested how pioneers compare against somics? If CrystalT has any experience with both? I red his review on pioneers, very informative and good review but I would appreciate more thoral comparison against some well known headpones. I'm always on a hunt for good budget headphones :)

You hadn't specified that in your original post, but if that is the case, then fair enough. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience.

The Pioneers were their flagship back in 2008. They sound better than most things in the $200 range. Directly comparing them to the Grado SR325i, I prefer the Pioneers. Their positioning is superb.

I'm a girl....

>Name is Crystal.
>Avatar is pic of me relaxing at a coffee shop, enjoying some tea, and music.
>still called a man.

I haven't had experience with both, yet. I've been waiting to have the chance to order them, and have been lurking since page 1. The main thing is that the Pioneers can now be had for about $60 on average, since they got phased out.

._.

I have a weird relationship with vn/dating Sims. I usually wait for a light novel, or Manga adaption.

I doubt there will ever be light novel / manga of Sono Hanabira but there are a lot of short side stories smily_headphones1.gif
You should check out the anime and manga lounge!
