DNA Sonett 2 - Page 3

Yep, thanks for that, that was nice to read.

I too have an original Sonett paired with Senn HD 800 and love it.  Mullard 5AR4 and Reflektor 6H30 kicked it up a notch for sure.  So tempted to get the Sonett 2 just because, and I'd even put them side by side.  biggrin.gif

Looking forward to your impressions. Have you gone for any other upgrades besides that big ole Black Gate or has that broke the bank?

i found and shipped off to Donald 4x BG NX 470uF capacitors which serve the role of cathode bypass for each triode section...they were rather dear as well...

all told ~$425usd worth of cap upgrades...smile_phones.gif

Should be a very special amp. You can tell a lot of love goes into Donald's creations.

This might be worth an email to PCX to make sure it's correct, but check this out!

Nevermind, I emailed them.

"Sorry Cory…..that's an error…and should have been taken down months ago (Laura - please do so)….we are out of stock of this part…….when and if we get them again, they will be $219.95/MP minimum."

Dud.

They have those at Upscale audio "Russian 6H30-DR Early Vintage Supertube".

PCX had matched pairs incorrectly listed at $99.95!

currently burning (50hrs+) in the BG's with the stock tubes (waiting for 200hrs to employ the mullard and nos reflektors) ....FR seems a bit varied at times....however the depth of the SS is excellent, width, thus far, perhaps above average....
