Colorfly C3 Discussion Thread - Page 138

Has anyone encountered such problems? When the c3 is playing music all of a sudden the volume up button gets stuck and volume goes to the max, skip track button gets stuck and keeps going to the next song.

It would also crash occasionally when I'm skipping track. Tried reseting it, reinstalling firmware, any help would be greatly appreciated.

That happened to me once
I think the touchscreen gets dirty
And starts to freak out
Putting a screen protector on it
Seems to have fixed it

I'm on my second Colorfly C3 (The first still functions but looks very beat up now) - I use a cut to size screen protector on the lens and I bought a silicon case which fits like a glove and protects it from scratches/ scrapes and lost screws)

That being said I will continue to buy these until Colorfly bring out version 2 - I love it more than my Fiio X5 - free tip; buy a replacement cable for your iem's - I gained at least a 10 % sound quality gain over my stock Sennheiser ie80 cables :)

I've had my Colorfly C3 for over 1.5 years now, it's been on demo periods to Hawaii, (from Australia), stayed there almost 3 months, came back then demod by up to 5 Australian members for a couple of weeks each. It's actualky seen more of planet earth and been on more planes than myself, one player I've never thought of selling. For the $100 it costs me and being my first 'kind of' audiophile DAP especially my first without EQ it's made me very happy.

Wouldn't trade my C3 for the world. Makes the funk come ALIVE!

The last two days I have been listening for many hours from my Colorfly C3 paired with Fiio E12.

I believe that they are a great match! The Fiio E12 makes the sound of C3 very airy and full 3-dimensional!

My headphones are Philips Fidelio X1

Yes, both the C3 and the E12 are excellent. Fwiw, to me the E12 tightens up the sound and restricts the soundstage a bit. This tends to work very well with my open headphones or power hungry ones, but not so much with my closed headphones and IEMs (which I find the C&C BH amp pairs very well with because it tends to open up the soundstage). Basically, I love both amps when paired appropriately. But the X1's for some reason sound awesome off of both amps!

I would like to ask something as I am not experienced with audiophile stuff.

When I connect C3 to a headphone amp, Fiio E12 in my case, what is the ideal volume setting on C3?

Usually, I set the volume to 36/40 because I prefer a more laid back sound but I realize that if I increase it to 38/40 and up, voices and some instruments become more forward thus creating the perception (or illusion?) of a more dynamic sound at the cost of some soundstage width.

I have also observed that when the headphones-out of C3 is used as a line-out, only if I set the volume of C3 at maximum, it almost matches the volume of a USB DAC. Considering this, is it best to keep the volume at the maximum setting if you want to use the DAC section of C3?

I am also aware of a theory according to which you may get distortion from the headphones-out, if the volume is set to maximum. Does this stand in case of Colorfly C3?

What experts say about all these?

Ideally, you want to max out the C3 when using it as a source to feed an amp. No, you won't get distortion when max-out. That's more of a problem for iPod rather than C3.

I had the chance to try the fiio x5 last week and to be honest I still love the C3. A great little player and the battery still holds its charge even after 1000+ hours of use.

I kind of feel the same with DX50, and to some extent Studio V 3rd Anv. If you find the right IEM it sounds great. Listening right now to Dunu DN - 2000 achieving better results than I did with DX50 / Tralucent T1 combo.

Well, not as much about synergy (I only had the opportunity to try it with the Noble 4 and philips tx2) as much as being too big for my childish hands, a bit too aggressive in the highs and not as musical. And I won't comment on the kinda mixed bag of controls. Anyway, C3 is still kicking ass and honestly while I'm a fiio fan my interest has completely shifted to the dx90.
