Yeah, I wouldn't mind that too. :D Actually, I wouldn't mind that much if it's not with physical buttons on the front but volume buttons on the side, line-out and a slightly bigger screen would be sweet

hold up big guy.... one step at a time lol.  I could do with just a line out if anything.

Well, for that you might just contact burnway. He did say that it is probably doable with just the PCM1772 and it will be cheaper to do than the $50 for his color3MOD.

Color3mod is a mod by burnway that changes a bit of stuff in the C3, including the DAC chip to PCM1772  and adding a separate amp section to make the C3 more powerful. He did mention it a bit ago but I guess the mods had to delete hid post coz making mods for money kinda makes you an undeclared member of the trade and I guess he didn't know that. I think the entire mod cost like $50. Anyway, as the PCM1772 doesn't have an amp this means if you just replace it you can have clean line-out signal through the headphone out and burnway did say that while he hasn't tried it coz he prefers to have it all in one device instead of using separate amps, it can possibly be done and it would be cheaper and easier for him coz I guess the really hard part is adding the amp section inside the already tiny C3

Yes, the 8GB version sounds twice as good as the 4GB version.... you can play twice as much great sounding music on the 8GB version lol!

Seriously, I'm pretty sure they sound the same.

......interesting!  I like this!  but wouldnt replacing the dac require more work than just switching it out?  like coding and all that?

Now I just need a way to contact him.

WEll, he's changing it from PCM1770 to 1772 and I guess they are pretty much the same with the difference that the PCM1772 chip doesn't have amplification and that's why burnway is adding a MAX97220 amp with a little bit of DIY skills and thus making the C3 with separate amp section that provides the C3 with a lot more power. But I guess it wouldn't be that hard after changing the DAC chip to not add any amplification and all and making the headphone-out into a pure-line-out. This of course might be an issue coz you'll always have to use an amp with the C3.

http://www.head-fi.org/u/193268/burnwaygta4 He has also already modified colorfly ck4, teclast t51 etc. I think someone in the t51 already received his modified t51 tekmod and was pretty happy with it.

The strangest thing just happened with my C3. Looking for a wall charger as I have several I found one bought from eBay for I don't know $2? or something. I have used it several times before on other devices. I plugged in the C3 which started charging normally, only after I plugged in the charger C3's keypad seems to become charged with static electricity. When I hovered my finger above the keypad about 2cm it would response without physically touching the pad. Very strange sensation, I decided that's probably a bad thing and found another charger.

Bad thing.  It was making a short of some kind, or overcharging and creating an electrical field around the device.  Of course, maybe you were close to inventing a death ray.:basshead:

Bad thing indeed. Poor thing could of been abducted by aliens if we kept that charger plugged in. Trying to send a signal to its home planet. ;-)

wow some pins for the charger must have been different??????
