How long this player has been used including the previous owner?

Could it be due to the firmware corrupted?

Firmware was up to date. The seller did say it was in mint condition. And it definitely looked like it was in mint condition. According to him, only used for 2 weeks. 

Have you contacted Colorfly for help?

I guess it should be covered under warranty. Do you plan to send it back for service?

It's not under warranty if I didn't buy it from them directly. Also, I can't really ship batteries out of the countries easily, theres a risk for it to be confiscated. So ill just live with it I guess. Hopefully, i can find some way to solve it. Wiping away fingerprints helps to some degree, but the mysterious buttons activating when i dont want it to is still sometimes present.

Would you guys consider the Colorfly C3 a better DAP than the HM-601 or is the $100 of the HM 601 well worth it? :)

Well I received my C3 today and now I am in the club I can see why this device has a fan base here and am blown away by it, Im gonna write a review for it later, stay tuned C3 fans!

I ordered onde C3 yesterday on ebay. Its a shame no one sells this kind of products here in my country,

 

I have high expectation on it. I am simply looking for sound quality and easiness to use. The other contenders were Ipod Classic for the availability on the market, Hippo Biscuit and Hifiman 601.

 

Now I need a pair of headphones and a pair of IEM. Any suggestions?

Hmmm what are ya after headphones wise open back or closed? Over ear or on ear?

Somebody should try this with a Heir 90. If it plays loud enough, it may be a trick package.

And if it doesn't play loud enough just add this excellent little amplifier to your C3 and rake the benefits.

Gadgets for my C3

It depends what you want from a DAP. I think HM-601 is a good sounding player, it has a specific flavour, it's warmer than C3 with a meaty low end, fuller upfront sound, and analogue where as C3 sounds digital. Though IMO C3 is not slouch next to Hifiman HM-601 and can certainly hold it's own. C3 has the advantage in soundstage width (not depth) separation and detailing though isn't quite as dynamic or natural compared. Both are good in their own rights. But if you think you made the wrong choice with C3 I don't think you have. If you have any particular questions regarding the players just send me a msg.

I've spent some more time with Rockits R-50 and C3 this evening and bouncing PM's back and forth with Techno Kid, my impressions have changed drastically from out of the box and I feel terrible for jumping the gun back there today. There is a small amount of hiss present at higher volumes which I've never had from another IEM, but it's not much to worry about. The pairing is nice so there's no bad synergy going on (besides the hiss). Please do not worry about your choices because I am actually liking the R-50 now.

i bought C3 after plenty of good reviews and was not disappointed. C3 sounds really neutral with good separation. while its not true analogue sounding it gets pretty close to this.

 

my portable setup works great and produces truly hifi sound with great meaty bass and separation. i fully recommend this setup to everyone who wants good bass and detail with a good soundstage and life like sounding music. i use C3 with Digizoid 2 portable subwoofer for earphones and Musical Fidelity EB50 earbuds. this combination is a killer, really have not heard anything better to date. of course do not expect C3 to beat proper hifi rack. C3 cannot deliver the sound which sonus faber floorstanders with tube amplification can deliver, but hey, i doubt any portable would be able to achieve that. for the money i find my setup unbeatable but what is more important sound quality is amazing and it really makes you want to rediscover your digital music collection. 

 

C3 is great player when properly matched with good headphones and perhaps portable amplification. for me Digizoid and MF EB50 did the trick and put a wide smile on my face.

 

comparing to my trusted Cowon S9 i can say C3 delivers cleaner sound and better instrument separation and wider stage at neutral setting. S9 is good with tweaked settings but it is unable to match C3 in instrument separation and dynamics. all in all S9 is casual listener player while C3 is critical listener player. both do their job very well.

Im having to convert all my Apple Lossless files to Flac and I've got at least 50gigs worth of music to go -_-
