Better late then never I always say  Actually, I was just looking for a cheep solution to add to my testing hardware, and H20 commented on how well the C3 worked with his Brainwavz S5's he's testing over on my thread. I thought, for the cost, it was at least worth a shot. Glad I listened!

Congrats on the C3 mate! It's a mighty little dap. I for one have been happy to use it over all my Apple daps despite the massive downgrade in ui. And thanks to H20 who's brought balance to the force... Right Luke?

I stopped using a near perfect Rockboxed Sansa Clip+ to use the C3...and I don't miss it at all. The super simple UI is a breath of fresh air actually, with few options and little fuss to get it going compared to the overly feature rich Rockboxed UI. And it simply sounds so much better, which after all is the whole point of having a quality portable DAP. I shut it off for dinner today, that's it. It's been going all day and I love it!!

I do have one question, though. When you shut it down, it doesn't remember where you were last, any way around this? I have a 64GB card in here, with tons of music, getting to where I was last can take a minute or two, would be great if it could remember where I was last. If not, so be it, not gonna knock it for that, it would just be nice is all.

Unfortunately no... Like you said it's a very streamlined ui. No biggie tho.

Meh, I'll live  Thanks! I've already pulled the sd card and am setting it up a bit differently, allowing for easier access to the files. I'm going to go with different folder types, like one for Rock, one for Classic Rock, One for Metal, etc instead of ABCD etc, it will make getting at certain music easier that way. I'll put sub folders in each category to clean it up, I think that will do it for me :) Still loving it, just adjusting it to my liking is all, and I'm happy I can at least do that with the C3. I'm already going through withdrawals not using it, lol.

Congrats on the c3, d2k. I've been very happy with mine for quite some time. Believe it or not but there was a time when we had to persuade H20 to get one

And talking about the c3 - mine just died and nothing can revive it, which is a shame. Kinda ironic given that I got a new clip zip yesterday and now the zip will be my new DAP.

Sorry to hear about your C3...at least it's cheap to replace it if you want to

As for the Zip, Rockbox it immediately, don't even think about it. The difference is night and day compared to it's original firmware. I own both the Zip as well as the Clip+, I thought both were the best there was for the money....now I'm not so sure of that anymore. The C3 is really that much better to my ears, and the battery life is massively better, something I need with almost my entire music collection now in 16 bit FLAC.

It's a sad day. I still haven't decided about replacing it or going with something else. And yeah, rockboxed the zip right away. I just got it to replace my old clip+ I misplaced somewhere coz I haven't really used it since I got the c3 almost 2 years ago. Now sadly it will be also replacing the c3 for the moment

You could have much worse(like your smartphone...)so don't fret too much over it. Save for another C3 as it seems to have served you well, I've never had a DAP last more than a year for me, and unlike my IEM's I treat my DAP's well.

Nah, I still have a Samsung Galaxy S, which is actually better than the clip. Anyway, I'll probably open it tomorrow and see if I can do something to fix it.

I think the iPod touch 4g touch sounds ok still. if I was going to use an Apple player it would probably the 4G as I could utilise the line out dock for amping.

Sorry to hear mate, keep your out on the boards maybe, or consider replacing it.

Hi. New to forum. Trying to get my C3 to work properly with all songs. Some songs have a play error.

I did update the firmware to 1.0.0.6 and still get the play error. I've been told I may need to convert my files to a lower bit rate.

Do any of you have any experience regarding this?

Thanks.

What is the format of these songs and what is the bit rate and bit depth?

I'm not too sure about how to check bit rate and bit depth so if you could point me in the right direction. This is my first try with anything other than an ipod. The file format is flac

Well, it depends on the software you're using but generally on your pc in the program you're using for playback there should be a file info option telling you if a song is 16bit or more and if it's 44.1kzh or higher and a bunch of other info
