I've been using the Colorfly C3 all afternoon with my Audio Technica ES700 and they pair really well. The soundstage is wide and the presentation & imaging is very good. Again I'm not missing any low frequency presence like others as reported. We all hear differently.

The upgrade did not cause anything bad to happen.  Perhaps the touchscreen (minus the cheap plastic screen covering that shipped with the unit  beyersmile.png ) is a mite more responsive, and I have had fewer lockups (usually solved by popping out the SD card and then pushing it back in).  It would be nice if they put out an upgrade with more GUI features, but I bought it knowing that the unit had a simple GUI (very unlike my iPhone music functions).  It's all about the sound, so I adjust my needs to suit the machine.

I have been having a bit of bother with my TF 10s the last 2-3 days.  When I plug in to the BH, I get only one channel.  If I try the other jack in the BH, the same.  But if I pop the connecter out of the C3 and plug in there, I get both channels.  When I plug back in to the BH, I continue to get both channels.  I'm leaning towards the TF wiring (I have a 2nd wire set that I bought when I got the 10s), but haven't pinned down exactly what is going on yet.  Jiggling wires doesn't bring up the 2nd channel.  I'll have to try some other earbuds and see how they react.

That's weird sh*t. Perhaps a few White Russians are involved Dude? wink.gif

Seriously, I hope you get that figured out.

Found the issue.  It's the connecting cable, a SMSL W3 HiFi Audio Cable 3.5 to 3.5mm I got from bumblebees515 in Feb. of this year.  Twenty bucks, so not sure it's worth shipping back to HK, even if a return is ok'd.  I sent him (?) an email explaining the problem, waiting for a response.  In the meantime, I know I can just wiggle the wire to "fix things" temporarily, though I'm sure eventually I'll need to buy a new one.

And no, no White Russians involved, though my grandparents DID come from Georgia (Russia).  Fled from the czar 40 years before the revolution, so.... nope.  smile.gif

Twinster: the Dude DOES know what a White Russian is.  However, there are also White Russians (pro-Czar) and Red Russians (pro-Revolution) and the Dude was using wordplay in his post.  See, having fun with words and their concepts can be fun.  Word....play.  smile.gif

.

I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

Hey, careful, man, there's a beverage here!

This is a very complicated case, Maude. You know, a lotta ins, a lotta outs, a lotta what-have-yous. And, uh, a lotta strands to keep in my head, man. Lotta strands in old Duder's head. Fortunately, I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug regimen to keep my mind, you know, uh, limber.

EDIT: I got a reply already from bumblebees515 re returning the cable for a replacement.  Pretty quick response time, and nice to know they stand behind their product(s).

Well my bh2 arrived today :) Got to say I do like it.  It does improve the sound, but only slightly. From the review I was expecting more in that regard.  Having said that the gain and frequency switches add to the sound customisation which I like. Oh and the guy thats said this combo doesn't have enough power is either hard of hearing or using some ridculously hard cans to drive because I thought it was loud when my C3 was at 30 vol and bh2 was near full vol, but then I turned on the gain and thought I was going to burst my ear drums! For me it doesn't enhance the bass much. Makes it a little punchier and harder, which is what it needed really, but still not quite enough bass! I love that 808 sound!

What do you guys think of the lead that comes with the bh2, do you think it needs something better?

Just changed albums, noticing the bass more now :D

When it comes to audio, from my understanding, the slightest improvements will be considered a decent improvement:)
You'll learn as you advance on in your audio journey that the more you pay, the less you get. Let me show you something my friend once showed me.

How your sound quality improvement will work on Head-Fi. (Click to show)

Lol at that "not enough power" statement, haha.

Your statement on the punchy hard sounding audio produced is correct. To me, it is more of an all-rounder "fun" enhancer switch for the BH. Gives it flavour.

As of the lead, I will assume you're talking about the interconnect to connect the C3 to the BH. Yes, I'd suggest you get a better quality one, preferably a pure silver if you're interested in a more brighter and sparkly sound with clearer sound, or a copper for a more dark and warm sound. OR, you could grab a hybrid cable, and get the best of both worlds.

When amping C3 always set the volume to 40/40 then use only the amps volume control.
