Newbie wishing to buy a pair for his Iphone! Please help!

After buying Beats Pro at Best Buy, approximately 1 1/2 week ago, I just listened to my friends no brand name headphones. I believe it was Sennheiser 600 or 650. Oh My God! They were flat out in another league compared to my Beats Pro. When I asked him how much it was, he showed me that it was 399.99$. The same damn price I paid for my Beats Pro at Best Buy! These headphones made Dr.Dre/monster look like a Bernie Madoff who tries to steal hard earned money from teens, and mislead them to buy worthless junk. (Excuse my language, I am in High School after all) Dr.Dre/Monster can just shove their heads up their ass for all of eternity, because all that comes out of their mouth, is ****. TBH Dr.Dre music sounds like it too. These Beats pro are definitely going to be returned to Best Buy! One problem my friend told me about those headphones is that I need to use it with amp to achieve max quality? Where can get one of those to go with an Iphone?! Also, do I need to have it? If not, then could you suggest a pair with quality to match the headphones my friend has?? I have 500~$ to burn. Also, I prefer bass heavy, with unmuffled mid to highs. Also, I want my headphones, or the amp to look ok, not retarded.

The Sennheiser HD600/HD650 are 300-Ohm headphones.

I would recommend getting headphones with much lower Ohm rating for use with the iPhone.

As I'm assuming your using your iPhone on the move, the amplifiers that work well with Sennheiser HD/600/HD650 (300-Ohm) headphone are usually not portable.

The O2 (Objective 2) portable headphone amplifier would work ($155), but it's a little large for use on the move.

 

Getting the Fiio E11 portable headphone amp ($51) with a Fiio L cable ($10) would be good for on the move.

 

What size headphone would work for you?

Do you like a lot of bass?

Hmmm so many options.. You could try ATH-M50 which has a bit more bass hit (certainly not muffled and boomy as Dr Dres) and is a closed headphone while at the same time being easy to drive straight off a jack. A cheap first headphone to get a taste of things or perhaps if you can find someone close to you to try... An amp would help as well..

go with v-moda m-100's. They're built well, look great, sound great, super comfortable and a good bass with shining and "sparkling" mids and highs. No amp needed, but any headphone benefits with an amp. They're super portable and are built for "the road warrior". Super durable, passed military specs.
