Eddie Current HD 300 order page is up

I just checked out the Eddie Current website and the order page is in now place for orders. Its a really well designed and exceptionally easy to navigate website. Two surprises, he changed the volume pot on the production amps to a 50k impedence unit, and the line out upgrade is only $50 vs the proposed $75. The upgrade 6AS7 tube is also a little cheaper than expected at $15. The grand total for all upgrades and the $24 flat shipping rate is $489; that seems like a great deal.

Do you have a link? Google doesn't turn up anything. Thanks.

I cant get the line upgrade to add to the order cart. It sends you to paypal once you click that option; ordering the upgrade tube worked correctly. I already emailed Craig about this in case any of you have the same problem.

The website says its a 100k pot. Input impedance is 50k.

I reread the summary and it says the production unit has a 50k pot.

I encountered the same problem. I e-mailed Craig about it, too.

I also asked what the shipping method and charges would be for Canadian orders. I'll post these when he gets back to me, assuming that there are other Canadians who are interested.

From the Eddie Current website...

The Production HD300 uses a 50k potentiometer and worst-case high frequency roll off is 60kHz.

Hey Sacd lover,

Are you bored with you PPX3? Or are you just adding another amp to the collection?

Absolutely not, I LUV MY PPX3 and I have a second one with upgrades on the way. I want to try this amp as a preamp though. I am very curious about the sound quality of this amp as well. I found out on the website you cant disconnect the power umbilical which is going to make this amp hard to fit in my setup if the cord is to short. But for the money this amp is a steal, and if I dont like it, some head-fier will no doubt be glad to take it off my hands.

If I just plan to use the HD300 as a headphone amp, is the capacitor upgrade actually useful?

i have:

monkey's audio ---> rme digi96/8pad ----> hd300 ---> sennheiser hd650's

Also, can anybody link to some pictures of the tubes, so we can see just how much "cooler" looking the $15 upgrade is?

What upgrades are you getting on the PPX3?

I just ordered my HD-300 without the upgrades for use with my HD-650's. I didn't realize there was an upgrade to the line out. Assuming I am using this strictly as a headamp. Is the upgrade to the line out worthwhile. Thanks.

I talked to Criag on the phone a week or two ago. He told me the cap upgrade is specifically for the line out. If you are using the hd 300 as a headamp only, I wouldnt bother with the line upgrade. From what I have gathered from doing research on audio asylum etc, the tube upgrade would be a good choice. The upgraded 6SA7 is a more rugged tube.
